It is available through Netflix (search for Shakespeare Retold), but it doesn't appear it's available on DVD, only for "Watch Instantly." Hmmmm. That's odd.
I may need to buy a copy of this DVD (Amazon.com has it) just in case Netflix ever decides to not let me keep a copy at the top of my Watch Instantly queue.

I loved this retelling of this play. Rufus was fantastic and it looked as though he really enjoyed it. (he has said in interveiws that Petrucio's personalit in this play is quite close to his own) His relationship with Kate (shirley Henderson) was fantastic. Have watched this soo many times .

Well this is interesting. A few others like myself became obsessed with Rufus after seeing this drama. I'm pleased also I'm not the only one who thinks so highly of the performances of everyone in it especially Rufus. I have watched it a few times and love it!! Glad I'm not the only one to think him very sexy dressed in woman's clothes too. ;D

Di, I don't think there's a person here who doesn't love & adore the gorgeous Petruchio in his big furry coat OR fishnets (although i must say one of my favourite shots is when they pan up from his shiny shoes to the top of his beautiful head in the wedding suit) Of course my all time favourite scene is: Come & sssssssit on me

I wonder if he painted his own nails?! I love Taming of the Shrew, but one scene is beginning to bug me - it's in the park when Petruchio gets hit by a football. Why would anyone play football when the ground is white with frost? I think I've watched it too many times!!

Numbat, I love that scene where Rufus was lying back on the couch too. It is one of my favourites. Oh by did he look sooooooooooooo good. Lassie - I thought that was one of the funniest scenes. I've seen it over three times now and still laugh when he is hit by the football. I wonder how many times they had to shoot that scene? Did they miss or did they get someone good at throwing footballs and so hit him on the head first time? As for playing football with white frost on the ground . . . that doesn't stop some football mad people.

Question - what does Petruchio ask Harry after breaking down his apartment door and telling him he's been kicked out of Austrailia? Something about a cockroach??? I'm watching this on YouTube right now and just cannot make out what he asks Harry. Thanks!

wichi H. asks why he is kicked out;.P says he cant remember, then asks Harry How are you (how 'r' Yah) Harry says Fine. P. then says Me too ,Me too then asks if he can have a drink and sits in the chair
Tho I love the bare chest and tum shots of Chas 2 H oT and AKT, I think that the slow shot of P in his morning suit is one of the most sensual and sexy shots ever. It gives me a fast downward ride in a lift ( elevator ) with a final punch in the gut, every time and I have watched many times , believe me.

(what's a morning suit? Personally I'd like to see Petruchio in his birthday suit, along with Lorde Marke, Aggie, Jacob, etc... ) I just watched it again, there's something P asks H between "I can't remember" and "how are you". P asks it and H says "no, not recently". I could swear it's something about a cockroach, but I'm sure it's not! below is the link if you'd like to hear it again. It's about 4:53 into the vid. www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLxCKzZfrKs&NR=1

Wichi the bit you mean is " have you been in a car crash?" A morning suit is the suit P is wearing for the wedding before he changes into drag That is a black tail coat worn with black and grey striped trousers , a pale grey or sometimes brocade waistcoat ( vest to you) over a white shirt with a cravat style tie plus top hat Worn on very formal occasions like weddings In my opinion next to a dinner jacket and bow tie , it is the sexy thing a man can wear . especially if you look like Roofie-baby

ROTFLMAO!! Car crash!! Thank you!! I could have sworn he said cockroach! It's all Rufus's fault, AGAIN! Sometimes I'm so blinded by his handsomeness that I can't understand what he's saying!!! Thanks for the definition of "morning suit". Yes, he does look rather sexy in one, doesn't he? But then, what doesn't he look sexy in???

This was the last "Wed on my own" treat. My absolute favourite. I fell in love with Rufus several years ago when the Beeb serialised Middlemarch. TOTS was the one I seriously fell in lust with him. Don't know whether it was because we are both more mature or not Why question a good thing. I saw this first when shown on the bbc and couldn't wait to buy it . Since then I have watched it ALL THROUGH WITHOUT FAST FORWARDING so many times I can't count. What is there to say that hasn't been said a zillion times before. This is perfect .If there is a fault with any body or thing I can't find it or maybe don't want to...so don't tell me . Shakespeare's play modernised without making it too politically correct Sally Wainwright's dialogue brilliant with Shakespearean quotes Supporting characters well up to the standard set by the two leads . These two spoilt, bad tempered ,damaged ,totally vulnerable characters falling completely in love with each other. The slow sexy panning shot of Rufus in his morning suit had me drooling on the floor Rufus and Shirley's dazzling performances crackling with sexual chemistry. Please please would someone put them together for the third time , and soon Glass of white grenache and a bar of galaxy slowly sucked made this Wed an absolutely self indulgent night.
