Question about audio commentary while I'm thinking of it...
On my R1 DVD, producer Anne Lai says Rufus *hated* Marke's wooden hand but she doesn't go into detail about it. I thought Ruf's hand was just edited out?? Anybody have more information about this? Of course the one thing I wanted to know was the one thing no one talked about!
Oh, that, and Rufus having to use a sword left-handed!

I've just been invited to Glyndebourne in August, to watch Tristan & Isolde. Think I dare mention, while I'm there, that I miss Rufus not being in it? ;D

Invite him along to watch it with you! Doh! Why didn't I think of that? I'll just give him a call in the morning.

Hmmmm.... this was never answered? :0 I have no idea what you're talking about, pendarim, as far as the dvd bit goes, but if I remember correctly for the scene that he actually did get his hand cut off, the scene when they're all going back to ....... wherever that is called , and when he sees his sister he has his hand digitally taken out of the shot. HOWEVER, there is a wooden hand he has on throughout the rest of the movie. You probably know the answer to this since it was asked more than nine months ago, and have probably figured it out...... but none the less, thought I'd answer it anyway. As far as the sword-fighting goes..... I have no idea if he trained for that very long or what..............

Found this on a blog - her assessment is a bit dodgy as she praises Franco ( ) but she's spot on about Rufus: I think James Franco is excellent as the tortured Tristan, Sophia Myles does a great job as the regretful Isolde and Rufus Sewell shines as the gentle yet majestic Marke. I think Sewell could be the modern Anthony Hopkins with his fabulous voice and understated performance.bonneesdream.blogspot.com/2007/09/colorwork-and-other-wrestling-projects.html

I think there is a typo there, GreenEyes. It should read "I think James Franco is excellent as HE tortured Tristan...."

I think you're spot on, Tink I also reckon Rufus would be absolutely thrilled to be compared so favourably with the great man from the valleys. Hope it doesn't take him as long to achieve widespread recognition, and I hope it doesn't mar his judgement when he does.

this was the movie that hooked me on Rufus! I absolutely loved the setting, the cast was beautiful to look at, and Rufus was so good. Mr. Franco was a bit too flat for me, not my fav actor.

I love Rufus' curly hair, but Lord Marke is pefect with very short hair.
