I just re-watched the first half of this while ironing. Having seen it two or three times before, I have to confess to some serious Roofing through the snowboard-action scenes, but I agree with Joyce that the stunts are quite breathtaking to look at. Rufus does another very good job with a flat script, and I love that scene when he falls off those beams while he's on the phone with his stupid (ex) girlfriend and then gets hit by his friend's flask Rupert Graves, on the other hand, is simply dreadful in this. Not a trace of his acting talent in view here - he doesn't even LOOK credible in that cool movie guy getup!

I too watched Extreme Ops this weekend for movie of the week. I also don't agree that this was the low point in Rufus career. His performance was great as always - he made the movie watchable. Sadly the same can't be said for the rest of the cast. I too found Rupert Graves disappointing, he's capable of so much better. Still it's a light and easy to watch movie a good spattering of comedy moments and while it might not be the most intellectual movie ever made it does have some great scenery

Appropriate to the freezing temperatures outside I fired our woodstove and watched EO.
The stunts were amazing and probably the only reason why my kids saw EO some time ago.
The plot was simple, the stunts being the center of the film - that reminded me a little bit of some James Bond films. But it is more fun than JB - Ian's mobile ringing usually when it was most disturbing ;D
As to the actors: I'm pretty sure if Rufus had not been performing, I would never have watched this - and he is convincing as ever. Like many other Rooftoppers I think that the other actors look poor compared to our man, especially Rupert Graves, who did a much better job in Charles II.

I agree with you all about Rupert, he is usually much better than he was in EO. I quite like the film though, it's like a cheaper version of James Bond and my 15 year old son is into skateboarding and dangerous stuff like that so he likes it. When he says " do you mind if I put this on Mum?" I can say casually " no I suppose I don't mind watching it!" Little does he know! LOL!

I watched this again last night with my kids ages 14, 12, and 9 . They loved every minute of it, cheering at the stunts. I remember reviewing this a little while ago but it must have been lost when we lost a lot of other stuff. As I remember I said something like Rufus as usual turned in a immaculate performance. There were spectacular stunts and brilliant photography and magnificent scenery . Rupert Graves was very pretty and taking lessons from Roof . The rest must have gone to the James Franco acting school. One, Joe Absolom, escaped later and managed to get into 'Doc Martin'. ME I just enjoyed gawping and gasping over Roofy

Considering that Roof's leading lady's other main acting credit was "Saved by the Bell" (cheesy American sit-com and she was a minor character to boot) it's not surprising that he sticks out a mile talent wise.

Made myself watch it the first time. Finally realized part of my aversion is that I'm just not into action films -- would never choose one for the topic alone. So I rewatched and (1) thought the stunt work was very good (2) thought there were some hidden, very understated comedic gems (3) loved Rufus in "Daddy" mode (4) got all tingly over how good he looked. All the same things those of you who found redemptive moments in the film came away with. But not one of you mentioned the nude shot. Wondering why.

Thanks Kate . Gosh I was a lot nastier then . Re my franco comment I read somewhere that last year he was nominated for a golden globe award and an Academy award Now I know they are fixed. and I saw this quote from him too. When asked if he was a "believer", he responded "In God? I don't know. Yes. To a certain extent. It's a complicated question ? The answer is yes or no. What is complicated about that?
Anglo I think that as it wasn't Rufus who was nude , nobody cared.

........ But not one of you mentioned the nude shot. Wondering why. If you'd like to know that, maybe it will be helpful to look at the announcement below any main thread: "Very Important - No Bare Bums". There was quite some discussion about this topic, which in short terms states that American people are very easily offended as far as nudity is concerned, whereas European characters don't like a lot of violence which is often shown in US films and tv.

Ok I think I've moved all of the EO threads together. Hopefully they follow on date wise (more oe less) otherwise it'll be more Extreme Oops than Extreme Ops!

I read somewhere that last year he was nominated for a golden globe award and an Academy award Now I know they are fixed. ;D At least he didn't win and he made such a fool of himself as the host of the Awards show that he'll hopefully never get another chance at that Thanks for putting all the threads together, Nell. Looks fine to me.

I bought this at a garage sale today for a dollar. I was excited enough about it as it is. Then I read this: But not one of you mentioned the nude shot. Wondering why. Yep, I'm definitely going to want to watch this now.
