Nice, PGG - you're really enjoying making screenshots, don't you (and getting quite good at it too)! Thanks! I love making Screenshots...

Extreme Ops will be showing on TCM on Thursday morning (1am!)
Sky Movies seem to be having a bit of a Ruf-athon at the minute. Not that it's a problem, of course.

Just watched this. Quite enjoyed it actually. It was better than I thought it would be and I have had to endure a lot worse movies than this in my time. Rufus was as always gorgeous in it. OK, it was just a kind of action adventure story. Not really my type of film if Rufus had not been in it. On the whole though there was a bit of story a lot of action and Rufus Sewell. I also thought the younger ones, Joe Absolom and the young dark girl stunt skier were great. Also the blonde who played the gold medalist was good and there could have been a hint of romance with Rufus which would have made it more enjoyable for me. On the whole I liked it.

Watched this yesterday - while I thought that the story (was there a story at all ) was crappy - clichés over clichés, it did keep me entertained to a certain amount. Just turn off your brain and watch some great stunts oh and Rufus of course, he was cute - the main and only reason to watch this. But I have seen worse - so it wasn't really a big waste of time (Rufus never is)

just ordered it for my birthday. PGG's recent Wallpaper convinced me it'll be worth it of course, just the fact that Rufus is in it ought to be enough but there you are

Watched it online. Just a fun, actiony movie, nothing deep, but that’s all right. I thought it would be much worse than it was, actually. Certainly different from his usual. And his curls are lovely in this. <3 I especially loved the funny bits! And the part where he was walking along those bars and then slipped on the desk and fell, I gasped out loud.

Just finished watching the movie. Honestly, there is much more into the film than meets the eye. I admit, the story was not overly complex, but for a film like that there was a very good balance between visually beautiful shots, dynamics and complexity of the situations and story line. One thing I did not like was the characters of the "bad" ex-communist guys, but I can live with that. They are actually much more clever, cold and practical than were presented here (I should know that, I live in a country where they are a common figure ). I do not know how many of us, visiting this board, work or have worked in the movie business. I have my share of crazy years in it, and I can say from that experience this kind of film is not an easy job to do! I can appreciate the beauty in it and the difficulties the crew had to go through. Actually, I expected much less from the movie, but the fact Rufus is in it was enough. My opinion is that this was worth watching; entertaining, visually appealing, dynamic and fun. I liked all the actors, even the villains. Well, liked all and loved one.

Agree completely. I really really reeeeeally greatly loathed this film. If it weren't for our man, forget it. I wouldn't have given this film a second look. It doesn't help that 1. I'm not all that into sports films in the first place and 2. I just didn't care. I really didn't. I was in it for Roof and that was all. In fact, the only point that held my attention was when Ian was holding onto the side of the mountain for dear life (although I knew he'd be OK in the end, because Zenina's screencaps told me so ). After about 4 minutes or so, I began fast-forwarding, or "roofing" the film and ended up doing that pretty much all the way through. On the very tiny positive side, the shots of the skiiers and the shots used in the commercial were amazing. I wish I was more of a sports fan so I could appreciate them more, but I got sick of them quickly. Rufus was the only good actor in the bunch and my biased attitude actually isn't showing its face while I say so . I was surprised by Rupert Graves. I thought he'd be much, much better

I agree that the rest of the actors did a rather bad job of it, particularly the girls and the bad guys. I'm not sure whether Rupert was acting poorly or if it was just his crap character lol. I think part of the reason I liked it all right is because I went into it having such terrible expectations. I thought it was going to be truly horrific! But it wasn't as bad as I expected. Not something I would really watch again, though.

I watched this some time ago on line too,and I thought it would be a total nothing, but as a loyal fan I had to show goodwill. ;D Honestly,it was a good movie. Not a masterpiece, but good for a pizza night with friends.Clearly it must have been better in theatres, because it has intense moments. Rufus is THE MAN! He is always the best and makes other actors look so...vain!It's a risk having him as a co-star if you don't love him and you just want to do your job! ;D

Finally broke down and got the DVD of this one. I was hesitant since so many of you think this isn't a good movie - but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't a good movie, but it wasn't a bad movie either.
The stunts were breathtaking, I'm pretty sure this must be the movie where Rufus was quoted as saying he doesn't do his own stunts. My main complaint was that for an action movie it was kind of, ummm, slow? It took a long time for things to happen.
I also liked the running gag of how Rufus' phone would ring and someone would say "Say hi to Stacey for me." But then at the end of the movie it was "Say hi to Chloey for me."
Not the greatest Rufus movie, but I would have to say it was an enjoyable way to spend the evening.

Glad you enjoyed it, Joyce. It's harmless, anyway. Rufus's hair is nice in this, just the right curl length to me. Not too many films where he has real sideburns, without a beard attached (Hamilton's phony muttonchops don't count!) You can probably tell by my focus on the hair that this is one I have to Roof through--but I'm not a big fan of action movies.

OK - since I did vote for this as movie of the week, decided to watch this last night while hubby was watching football.
Again, not the greatest of Rufus' work but I don't agree with those who say that the movie is th low point of his career. Yes, the plot is paper thin but so is the plot of the majority of thrillers. This one was all about the stunts and those were excellent. I also enjoyed the fact that this movie let Rufus show his comedic chops. The man has great timing, I wish he would do more comedies.
Surprisingly the biggest disappintment was Rupert Graves. Ok, I get it, it's a silly movie and all, but he really did seem to be phoning in his performance. I expected minimal acting from the rest of the case not from him and Rufus. He, unlike Rufus, was not making the best of a bad situation.
