I think my favorite scene in HOT, although not the happiest, was when Agamemnon sacrificed Iphigenia. When the camera panned to Rufus's face after he killed his own child was just heartbreaking. That's my favorite part, too! And thank you so much for the smiling, waving Aggie pic, PGG!! I shall love you forever now! ;D

Oh Jesus...that's one of the things I don't like in movies. Was this scene really necessary?

Oh Jesus...that's one of the things I don't like in movies. Was this scene really necessary? That's exactly what I thought, too! And may I remind everyone on the RT that about 15 month ago there was a lot of trouble about what kind of pics may be posted in accordance to the proboards terms of reference? - I'm not so sure that this pic meets these rules of action. For further details please go to '"home" and click on one of the main threads. The first thread under the caption should tell you what this discussion was about!

Thank you for stepping in, Walt - as you can see, I have now deleted the pic as it comes under Proboard's "objectionable content" rule, #18 here: proboards.com/tos (I'll also delete it from the other thread where it was posted)

Oh dear, don't get me wrong. I was talking about the movie-scene (were this pic was from), but it's true what "walt" said.

Was that scene necessary? I don't think so, no - they'd already established how ruthless Agamemnon was in pursuit of what he wanted, but I suppose they wanted to show the total power he had over her.

Maybe they thought that this scene is a clue to the final scene of the film in which Agamenmon is murdered by his wife?

Ok, the Bronze Age Greek archaeologist has to say- That scene (the rape scene?) was completely director's/script writer's invention- one of the things that made me grind my teeth. Agamemnon does some less-than-stellar things in the Homeric cycles, but he NEVER rapes Helen. His motivation for the war was entirely economic, as Troy sits at a caravan crossroad & entrance to the sea. I love Rufus as Agamemnon. I think he's great as him, but both this movie & that Horrid movie, Troy, took wild licenses with the Iliad (which I've spent countless hours & tears translating from the Homeric Greek) & Homeric cycles. Grrrr...OK, I'll hop off my soap box now & go back to stars in my eyes re: Rufus.

I feel certain rufus signed on for this movie thinking he would be portraying the agamemnon you are so familiar with, keftiugirl, and at the last moment, the director tricked him into doing those horrid thinigs. so what else is new in hollywood? and this is the major reason i think rufus should let rooftoppers write and direct all his future endeavors.
