I'm starting to understand Rufus' comment about the movie industry is run by accountants and secretary's a bit more.

I loved the young ones (even though I wasn't supossed to watch it and I had to sneak inot my brothers bedroom to watch it.) That was good tv, in those days they wouldn't have cancelled Zen. Does anyone know any curses that we can send the BBC. The curse is self inflicted. If they axed anything that was good, there will be no TV show worth watching. BBC one will end up with one viewer only. God, I will treasure my DVDs of ZEN!

Lets not give up girls! Lots of people are completing the forums on the bbc and itv and blog sites protesting!! Most 98% love Zen and don't want it axed. I am certain some t.v. company will snap it up.. IT IS TOO GOOD for them not to. I am sure Andy Harries will meet with success - HE HAS AN EXCELLENT PRODUCT! The BBC are showing some really poor programmes and will suffer for it. One of the other more forwarding thinking channels will take it up - you'll see.

You're right Robela, I shall try and be more positive - I've no doubt that Mr Harries will work his socks off to get this this picked up elsewhere - the BBC's loss will be another channel's gain!

Poor Rufus! I'm afraid he's terribly disappointed to be ditched by BBC like this after his success with Zen!! And now maybe he's wrecking his nerves and waiting for another tv company to take over BBC's part... I do hope very much that the BBC decision does not cause other financing tv companies to retrieve. I'm especially thinking about the German ZDF - on their homepage you still do not get any results searching about Aurelio Zen..... Of course, like all other Rooftoppers I'm very angry and disappointed about this decision. And frankly, I cannot understand why BBC did this. Today, one month after the dvd release, amazon UK ranks Zen as follows: And thanks for the addresses, Dippy, I'll write letters to BBC and ITV - by snail mail. Some years ago I wanted to make a complaint to a company and asked for an e-mail address. One of their employees recommended me to send a written letter to the very top manager - and that was very successful! So let's try this again!

Same here - I will try to apply the power of positive thinking and some other necessary means. This cannot be the end of Zen.

Tipou's absolutely right, it's decisions like this that caused subscription channels to develop in the first place. The BBC always stood for quality, but is becoming like the worst of the commercial channels now, and the bigwigs just don't see that they are repeating the same mistakes again and again. They dumb down, lose viewers, assume it's for some reason other than their original decision, dumb down some more, etc etc, etc.
Well, I hope it goes to Channel 4 - and they make a longer series.

Oh for f... sake! I think if an actor sais "I like this role very much" it's over. It was perfect for him, for ones he's not a baddie...oh I can't believe this. Gosh, I hate this industry...! PS: My suit-lover heart is broken!

Think positive thoughts, Sam! It's over at the BBC, but maybe not for good.

I think the key for the show to be picked up elsewhere is the involvement of the producer. A US tv series Southland was cancelled by NBC, the producer campaigned for the show to be picked up elsewhere. The show was picked up by the cable channel TNT and is in its 3rd season I think. Is he the producer of Wallander as well?
If anyone has contact info on Andy Harris I would be glad to contact him or anyone else. Was it mentioned he was trying to get it picked up elsewhere? I am in shock and probably didnt read past Zen being axed. Fan involvement is also important.
I know Rufus is used to this business, but I do feel bad for him!

Zen gets the axe from the BBC Published: Today Add a comment (0) THE BBC has axed detective drama Zen after just three episodes - despite it pulling in nearly six million viewers. But the producers of the show - which starred Rufus Sewell, below, as Italian detective Aurelio Zen - hope to get another channel to pick it up and are in discussions with ITV, Channel 4 and Sky.
It is thought the programme - which aired last month - was axed as part of new BBC1 boss Danny Cohen's bid to put his stamp on the channel.
Here is an email for channel 4: amy.lawson@itn.co.uk and another: news@channel4.com
