Having said that, I can understand how inconsistent it seemed, with the women having genuine Italian accents:) I don't know why the women had to have Italian accents. Yes I know they are Italian actresses but since Zen , I have seen both Valentina Cervi (Arianna ) and Cosima Shaw (Nadia) in British tv productions acting without any trace of an accent, so it must have been a deliberate decision.

That's what I meant, Frannie - because an Italian TV company put some of the money to produce Zen, it seems as if some of the characters had to have Italian accents for that reason. Nonsensical, but it's all I can think of!

Yay, I didn't miss Vendetta after all! ;D I forgot that on Mondays, my PBS replays whatever was on Sundays, on our 3rd PBS station. What's better than Aurelio Zen? WET Aurelio Zen!!

Hi all,
Forgive me if this has been answered somewhere in the vast annals of the Rooftop, but is Zen available to rent in the U.S. from one of the box things that you see outside supermarkets & such?
The reason I'm asking is my boss's girlfriend LOVES Rufus (imagine that) and LOVES Italy (she's watched The Tourist about a billion times) and believe it or not they don't have cable and watch all their movies via the rent method.
I would lend them my Zen boxed set, but it's the wrong region.
thanks
Rai ;D

Hi Rai, I checked Redbox.com, Blockbuster.com, and Amazon Instant Video and none of them have it available for rental. Amazon sells it, however. Netflix didn't let me search for titles without being a member, but I doubt it has it if Blockbuster doesn't. Now you have me curious about when PBS will get around to making it available for rent!

Rai, I checked my netflix account and it's not available there either.
Does she have access to internet? All three episodes are streaming online at PBS.org. Vendetta is available for free until July 11, Cabal until July 18, and Ratking until July 25. If she doesn't have her own cable internet and she's desperate to watch Italian Rufus (and who wouldn't be?), I would think she could take a laptop to any site with wi-fi and watch it there.

No, Rueful, they just have a DVD player. And they always watch movies together. Isn't that cute? I'll see about maybe having him buy it for her as a surprise. thanks anyway Rai

Hmmm, they sound like an interesting couple! I hope he takes your advice; I'm sure she'd love the series.

Hi everyone, that's odd that you don't see Zen available on U.S. Netflix. It comes right up when I search for it, and both discs are in my queue right now. I don't need it because I bought the Region 2 DVD as soon as it came out in January 2011, but I'm getting it for a friend. BTW, it has six pages of comments and it's rated at 3.9 stars out of five.

Hi PrairieGirl,
Judy said she couldn't search on Netflix cuz she wasn't a member, but just assumed it wasn't available.
Of course I don't think the happy couple subscribes to Netflix - they go to the red box or the blue box.
Anyway, he likes the idea of buying her the boxed set. Knowing her, she'll want to own it & watch it multiple times.
But thanks for the info!
Rai

I'll correct myself though--I did say I couldn't find it on my search of Netflix, but I only have the plan that sends instant, streaming videos, so that's all that I can search for.
So for anyone else looking to rent, apparently Netflix has the actual Zen dvds to rent, but you can't get them for instant streaming on your tv.
Glad your boss made the wise decision to buy, Rai!

Happy day!
I am a Zen virgin no longer ...Just saw Vendetta! I want to watch the other episodes and then I may write some FF ...
PS is there a sequential order to them or is it not that important?

The cases are not really connected, but the romance develops over the course of the three episodes, so it's highly recommended to watch them in the order Vendetta - Cabal - Ratking.
