I've seen these before, but thanks for posting them anniem! somebody please tell me why this wasn't made into a film. I mean, how can one possibly look at him here and not want to see him look this way on the big screen?! This has to be Ruf at his most baby-faced sexiest. Oh, that hair!

That last picture is incredible, isn't it? This would certainly have made a wonderful film ...

Waaah. I love that pic. Makes you want to dig into that mass of curls with both hands (among other things which I better keep to myself). I think VG used it for a wallpaper some time ago, but it's great to have the Arcadia pics in here, too. Only just discovered the last photo on the previous page. So lovely

I was making jam this morning ; preparing the fruit is the boring of jobs , so I listened to Arcadia.
It is some time since I listened to it and I had almost forgotten how enchanting it is! And how young Roof's voice is!
Stoppard's words and a stellar cast make this a real treat.
One thing: I have read a review of this radio production and there is a comment; I quote>>>
'a magical wordless scene involving a wineglass which of course. out of necessity not in this radio production.'
I have not seen the play, so if anyone who has seen it, can tell me about this scene, I would appreciate it.

I haven't seen the play, but I have read the book, so until Dippyponge arrives... That glass of wine is in the last scene. Hanna and Valentine talk about the 'Coverly set' and Thomasina, Augustus and Septimus enter, Septimus goes to his place at the table and pours himself a glass of wine...and Hanna drinks from Septimus's glass.

Just found this snippet in an article about Ed Stoppard: .....Hugh Grant and Ralph Fiennes – who both auditioned to be in Arcadia – neither of whom got it. [The part eventually went to Rufus Sewell.]
You can read the full article HERE.Rufus's superior talent shone through even at that early stage of his career.

Thanks for posting this. It came up in a Google search a few days ago but I didn't remember to post it.
(It was an interesting article altogether. I hadn't known that Miriam Stoppard is Ed's mother.)

Yesterday I went to "Ticino" (Swiss canton) with a friend. If you are there you think you are in Italy it's beautiful. We walked around to find the perfect place to eat Pizza and what caught my eye? This:

I hope youvisited Arcadia, victorygirl! Everyday, more and more, I feel like comparing the loss of Rufus and others to LA as on a parr with Greece and its hunger for the return of the Elgin Marbles. Can't we keep our own wonderful talent here?

Its not cool KMK - it is true - it used to be the brain drain to the States, now its the talent that has gone through our drama training that is hopping on the 747's
