Cool! I bought a set like this on eBay quite a while back and really enjoyed listening to them. Just as with all of his audiobook recordings, Rufus does the most amazing job voicing the different characters. (Stephen Fry was even quoted once saying that listening to these stories while he exercised on the treadmill was how he lost weight!)

The postage was £5 - that's okay as long as I get it in a reasonable time.

That sound pretty reasonable for the postage. Still a bargain. Hopefully the postage wings will be swift to us both. Enjoy.

Thanks for the tip Lovethemanrs.
I like Zenina don't really like James Bond but with Rufus reading it will be worth it. And I believe the original books must be better than the films.
Thanks.
PS. Just bought it - looking forward to long time listening to Rufus! Thanks for the tip again lovethemanrs. (love your name)

Congrats, zenina! Mr. Kate recently wondered why amazon was recommending "Goldfinger" to me I'm not the greatest fan of the Bond stories but I love listening to Rufus reading. He should definitely do some more audiobooks - Zen perhaps? He's got perfect feeling for emphasis and pauses and manages to create so many different voices for the characters without overdoing it.

@ KMK
I agree with your comments of Rufus' voices etc on audio books.
I want to get an audio book of him reading The Woodlanders which I believe I have seen in another thread that you have this. I have not looked yet but will Silkbooks have it. I bought The Adventures of Joseph Andrews from them. I am still listening to that. It is so funny to hear him do all the different accents and the olde english language.

I bought the Woodlanders in mp3 format from audible. Haven't listened to it yet, though, saving it up a bit

hi robella No worries - my pleasure. Just wanted to spread the joy of Rufus' voice around.
My set arrived today - as you say, fantastic value. I will be listening to mine in the car on my journey to work. Can't wait to go to work now!!!!
I was on ebay this morning. Other sets the same have popped up on a £9.99 start price!!! Typical isn't it, but I still reckon we got a good deal anyway.
So if anyone is still interested in purchasing one of these - shop around, you make get them even cheaper than we did.

I love Roof's narration of the James Bond books - i've spent many an hour listening to them and always really enjoyed hearing the "real" Bond stories rather than the terrible Hollywood movie versions, which in some cases bear very little resemblance to the original books (the fantastic Daniel Craig movies excepted of course!!).
And i love all the different accents he does, except............. yes, the aussie accent. It is absolutely terrible!!! I laughed out loud - for a long, long time. It reminded me of Monty Python's "Bruce" sketch. I can honestly say that i've never heard a real aussie with such a strong, over the top accent. Surely Rufus's dad never talked like that!! I put it down to him doing an almost comical accent for effect.
But it did make me wonder about his other accents. What do the American girls think of his various US accents, and what about his other European accents? I'd be interested to hear what others think. I think they're all fantastic (except for the Aussie one!!).
And honestly, the CD's are worth every cent!! ;D
