You should be able to get BBC Radio 4, PGG - you can listen to that online. (Maybe you're thinking of the TV channel BBC 4?)

Christmas Day on BBC4! I hope that means we will get it in the US soon after! www.thestage.co.uk/news/newsstory.php/34081/ian-hislop-to-star-in-radio-4s-england-Ian Hislop to star in Radio 4’s England, Their England Published Wednesday 2 November 2011 at 10:58 by Matthew Hemley
Private Eye editor Ian Hislop is to star alongside Ioan Gruffudd and Rufus Sewell in a BBC Radio 4 adaptation of the novel England, Their England, which will be broadcast on Christmas day.
The one-off drama is being made by independent company Jarvis and Ayres Productions, with A G Macdonell’s book adapted for radio by Archie Scottney.
It focuses on a young Scottish man called Donald Cameron, played by Tony Curran, who is commissioned to write a book about the eccentricities of the English, including village cricket.
Hislop plays the editor of The London Weekly and captain of the drama’s cricket club, while Sewell plays a journalist and Gruffudd is the Welshman who commissions Donald’s book.
The cast also includes Alfred Molina and Michael York.
Martin Jarvis, who has directed the drama, said: “The novel seems amazingly up-to-date in its canny view of journalists, artists, poets, politicians, diplomats and of course the countryside. Viewed through the eyes of a young Scot, the absurdity and blessedness of England and the English remains reassuringly, preposterously recognisable.”
The drama will be broadcast on Christmas Day at 3pm, and repeated on December 31.
Edited to say: If anyone is familiar with the book, maybe they can tell us what the role of the journalist would be like. Here's the Wikipedia description, which mentions only "journalists" WARNING: GENERAL PLOT SPOILERS, BUT NOTHING SPECIFIC.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/England,_Their_England Set in 1920s England, the book is written as if a travel memoir by a young Scotsman who had been invalided away from the Western Front, "Donald Cameron", whose father's will forces him to reside in England. There he writes for a series of London newspapers, before being commissioned by a Welshman to write a book about the English from the view of a foreigner. Taking to the country and provincial cities, Donald spends his time doing research for a book on the English by consorting with journalists and minor poets, attending a country house weekend, serving as private secretary to a Member of Parliament, attending the League of Nations, and playing village cricket. The village cricket match is the most celebrated episode in the novel, and a reason cited for its enduring appeal. An important character is Mr Hodge; a caricature of Sir John Squire (poet and editor of the London Mercury) while the cricket team described in the book’s most famous chapter is a representation of Sir John’s Cricket Club – the Invalids - which survives today.[5] The book ends in the ancient city of Winchester, where MacDonnell had gone to school.

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!! Thanks for finding this terrific news, Rueful! Can I just clarify one thing, though? It's BBC Radio 4 you need to look for - "BBC4" is a TV channel. As I posted above, those outside the UK should be able to listen live (as you did for the radio interviews Rufus did for Zen last year). Here's the Radio 4 website: www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/ - you'll see there is a little box at the top right to listen live. A Christmas present from Rufus - how perfect is that?!! ;D

Oh, you Brits and your confusing technical terms. ;D Twice over! Seven days from the first broadcast, and from the second. Even those Rooftoppers going away for Christmas should be able to catch it. And for those who can't, or want to record it live, there's a handy little program available that will help you do just that..... (I'll post that nearer the time) And my Christmas lunch!

Who wants to eat when they can listen to Rufus, I wonder? Well, quite! But radios in every room helps, I find, when I'm determined to listen, NO MATTER WHAT. ( ;D ) Thank you so much for posting this wonderful news. I was squeaking with joy when I first read it. That's my best Christmas Present, this year, already.

I'm sure I'll definitely want to listen to it over and over again and I've never recorded a live streaming from my laptop before so I may need some assistance when the time comes.
