Thanks for the update, Welshdragon! How do we record this? I want to at least try just in case I'm unable to listen to all of it (does anyone know how long it is?) or will some of you insanely generous ladies be offering recordings of it via PM upon request as you've done before? Meg, there's a good chance you'll be able to listen on demand, as it seems that a lot of BBC4 programs have a "Listen Now" option, at least for a limited time period. However, there's also a free program that lets you record anything that is being played over the speaker of your computer. (You have to make sure your computer doesn't have any other programs open that will make a sound--I've recorded some things and then in the middle heard, "You've got mail!") www.mp3mymp3.com/It may add adware to your computer; I haven't had any problems, but you should research before you decide to download. Here are some user reviews. download.cnet.com/MP3-My-MP3-Recorder/3000-2170_4-10369269.html

Thanks for that Rueful . I may give it a try myself if I can't fathom how to record from my tv supplier hard drive. For all of us setting it to record - don't forget it's BBC Radio 4 not to be confused with radio 4.

Ah, yes, thanks for reminding me about that little program I promised you: www.mp3mymp3.com/mp3_my_mp3_recorder.html Quoll recommended this years ago, and I've used it for Doctor Syn and such stuff. Just download it, save it to your desktop then make sure you open it just before you go to the BBC Radio 4 website on 25/31 December: www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/Click on "Listen Now" a few minutes before the play is due to start, then be ready to hit "record" on MP3MyMP3 - once the play is finished, you can save it to your computer or (I think) to an i-Tunes account if you have one. Why not have a practice with something beforehand? (But I'm sure some kind souls will be able to help out in other ways if necessary.... ) Ha-ha, just seen Rueful got there before me! Oh, well - better twice than not at all. (Nell, I think you might have meant "not to be confused with BBC4 TV", didn't you?! :

Hi ladies - sorry for being absent so much lately - but I have been lurking ;D Just wanted to add another little program which I use, because all the programs that record directly from the speaker of your computer don't work with mine. Here it is, it is called Radio Downloader. www.nerdoftheherd.com/tools/radiodld/The good thing about this is you can download all the programs on BBC Radio as long as they are on I-Player (listen again), as far as I know. The program is very easy to handle and doesn't use a lot of disk space. And it downloads a 2 hour program in a couple of minutes - no problem to do it then when all the guest have left. ;D - well you can download it when the guests are still there, they won't notice ;D You can also subscribe to a series of programs on the radio - let's say Dr.Syn, and the program would automatically download the newest episode as soon as it is available, which is usually a couple of hours after the first broadcast.

Nice to see you, Zenina. Thanks for the info about the other program. Downloading a program does sound much easier than recording!

Hi Ladies, thanks for all the infos! Unfortunately mp3Mymp3 doesnt't work for me either, but I found another free software for recording audio from your PC in case you need you can download it from freecorder.com (it works from your browser) And if you want to read the original novel England, Their England, you can find it on gutenberg.ca/ebooks/macdonellag-englandtheirengland/macdonellag-englandtheirengland-00-h.html
I'm sure some of you has already known this but as a non-native speaker I am really happy to find it on the net

Merry Christmas, Rufus. Thank you for your special present. Merry Christmas to all Rooftop members as well.
Enjoyed the Radio Play, very much. Thought the role of Donald Cameron and the voice of Tony Curran has a lot of Rufus in it, but only until Rupert Harcourt (Rufus) comes on. You recognize the original at once. The main action with our guy takes place 19 - 42 mins into the play...

PGG, not need to wait - it's available to listen to on demand - if you do a search on the website for England Their England you get the link for the program. I just listened to it, very enjoyable, I'm going find the book. As germanlady said, Rufus' voice is very distinctive and he has some good lines.

Well, my military operation to eat early so I could concentrate on the play got scuppered by a couple of Christmas morning phone calls so I'm going to have to listen to it again, too. Oh, what a chore! But hearing Rufus's dulcet ones and thoaty laugh was a very nice presnt. Thank you, Rufus!
