, , !!! THAT is a fantastic picture VG. We can only hope that he looks that freakin sexy!!! Lets cross our fingers that they have the sense to make him the sexy kind of vamp and not some sort of "Thomas Clarkson wig wearing period piece" type (although we do love Thomas!!). So i've been racking my brains to find a vamp that he may be similar too, and the closest i've come up with is Franklin Mott from True Blood played by James Frain. Now James isn't as good looking as Rufus obviously, but he does possess that dark/sexy/crazy aspect that i think Roof would bring to the part. And believe me, Franklin Mott was all kinds of crazy!!! So here is a youtube clip that sums Franklin up pretty well - but be warned it contains VERY explicit language and full on vampirey type stuff (and i'm not talking sparkling teenage vamps here!!!). Oh and a little bit of vampire shagging - which apparently makes your eyes literally roll back in your head!! So only watch the clip if you like that kinda thing www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsJ02CCnsvQand if you don't want to watch the clip, this is what Franklin looks like in full vampire mode (which i will put under a spoiler cut for those who don't want to see it!!) I agree with judy that it would have been nice to see Rufus in a lead role in which he doesn't end up dead, but i suppose we did get that in Zen didn't we. If he's chosen to be a bloodsucker then i think we should support that and just hope that he doesn't die like a True Blood vamp (they end up a big pile of disgusting red-jelly like goo on the floor!!). ;D

A couple more news - nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2011/04/rufus_sewell_to_play_anti-linc.htmlRufus Sewell to Play Anti-Lincoln Vampire The Timur Bekmambetov–directed, Tim Burton–produced adaptation of Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter already has its hero-president in Benjamin Walker. Now it has its bad guy: Rufus Sewell will play Adam, the lead (evil, not sexy) vampire. Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Dominic Cooper are also on board. Question: Will anyone be playing a vampire Stephen Douglas? www.cinemablend.com/new/Rufus-Sewell-Will-Be-The-Lead-Bad-Guy-In-Abraham-Lincoln-Vampire-Hunter-24165.htmlRufus Sewell Will Be The Lead Bad Guy In Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Author: Katey Rich Rufus Sewell Will Be The Lead Bad Guy In Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter In the actual story of Abraham Lincoln's life, the villain is John Wilkes Booth, or maybe President of the Confederacy Jefferson Davis. In the version told in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, though, ol' Abe was fighting against a vampire named Adam, who Variety now reports will be played by Rufus Sewell. Sewell is British, which already makes him a villain of all things freedom-loving and American (hear that, colonialists?!?!) , but it's unclear if he was cast for his British accent or a face that screams "I am not afraid of you and could easily kill you with my bare hands." The Timur Bekmambetov-directed 3D project starts shooting in March, with Benjamin Walker starring as Lincoln and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Dominic Cooper, Anthony Mackie, Alan Tudyk and Robin McLeavy rounding out the cast. Above is a picture of Sewell done up in Civil War-era garb for The Illusionist, to give us some idea of what to expect-- hopefully the excellent facial hair will also be back. thefilmstage.com/2011/04/12/rufus-sewell-cast-as-villain-in-abraham-lincoln-vampire-hunter/Rufus Sewell Cast As Villain In ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ Published on April 12, 2011 by Nick Newman · View Comments The upcoming Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter has just had one of its biggest cast additions yet, as Variety reports that English actor Rufus Sewell will be playing the “lead vampire villain,” named Adam. You may remember him from movies like Dark City, The Illusionist or, more recently, The Tourist, but this should serve as one of the biggest roles of his career so far. He’s one of those guys you’d consider an undervalued talent: he plays his part very well, and does so consistently, but most people don’t even know who he is. And while I may not be that interested in the film itself, the cast they’ve assembled so far is at least promising. Based on the novel of the same name by Seth Grahame-Smith, the movie follows America’s 16th President on his quest to kill every vampire, which the story claims is the real reason behind the Civil War. It’s directed by Timur Bekmambetov, produced by Tim Burton, and also stars Benjamin Walker as Abraham Lincoln, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Mary Todd Lincoln, Anthony Mackie, Dominic Cooper, Jimmi Simpson and Alan Tudyk. The film has a planned release date of June 22nd, 2012. Are you familiar with Sewell’s past work, and do you think he’ll make a good addition to the cast?

I'm away from the board for less than 24 hours and all hell breaks loose! But this kind of hell I can live with!!! ;D Ok, I'm not particularly enamored of vampire movies, bastardized history movies, Tim Burton-esque movies, or 3D movies. But you know what? I'M GOING TO BE THE FIRST PERSON IN LINE TO SEE THIS ONE! (If Hollywood only understood how many women would go the the theater to see any genre, any time, just to get a glimpse of Rufus. ) I really hope he enjoys the filming and that the film turns out to be what he hopes. And it's definitely something different...there's never been an Abe Lincoln vampire movie before.

My thoughts exactly, rueful! ;D I'm struggling to think of something more interesting to say than OMG THIS IS AWESOME but failing miserably. My brain just hasn't been working correctly since I first heard about this. I know I've already commented but I just feel like I have to say something else. I'm going so fangirly over here it's not even funny. Maybe I was going through Rufus withdrawal?

Saw something interesting in this report of Rufus' casting: screenrant.com/casting-abraham-lincoln-vampire-hunter-cosmopolis-the-master-sandy-110630/Sewell will appear in the Vampire Hunter adaptation as a vampiric leader, a character that screenwriter/original author Seth Grahame-Smith created specifically for the film.So my hopes of seeing what Adam was like in the book are for naught! He doesn't even appear in the book! Oh well. I'll still enjoy the book, I'm sure. P.S. Numbat, I thought of Franklin Mott, too. I wonder if Roof will be sporting a Southern accent. He sure did a good Texas accent in the James Bond books.

Hurrah!!! I get the impression from all the preeceding chat, that this will be more in the style of the '60s and 70's Vampire stuff, which I love, not the recent stuff, which I ....reserve judgement on. But now we know why Rufus is going around wearing big hats! (to keep the sun off) Yup, He's welcome to my neck any day, too.

Sewell will appear in the Vampire Hunter adaptation as a vampiric leader, a character that screenwriter/original author Seth Grahame-Smith created specifically for the film. Well, I do hope that doesn't mean it's a small part... Or maybe it's that the book is told more from Abe's POV and the vampire leader isn't often seen by him, but in the movie, that would be different since they could cut to Adam and do that sort of "meanwhile" thing. But now I won't be able to tell what his character is like by reading the book.

I doubt it's a small role - Adam is the leader of the vampires, so sounds as if the storyline will focus on the struggles between him and Abe Lincoln. Hope so, anyway! By the way, for anyone reading the book, even though Rufus's character seems not to be featured, please remember to use the spoiler button when posting any plot details! Thank you!
