To anyone who knows and has the power to change things:
Is it possible to get a page index thingey :

at the bottom of the page too? When I'm finished reading, I'm at the bottom of the page and now I need to scroll all the way back up to go to the next page. It's impractical. (Or at least I think so, maybe someone thinks it's the most brilliant thing invented since the proverbial bread slicer? It is possible. )

Does anyone know what happened to the last changes page (I've forgotten what it was called, but it was quite handy to catch up). Have we lost it or is it hidden somewhere?

The page index thing Ginny mentioned is impractical, so I'd second if I anyone can find a way to restore that!

Here's my question: Anyone know what the "shoutbox" on PM pages is about? Sounds kind of ominous.

I'm not sure about placing the page numbers at the bottom (that needs investigation), but the page number index (nice picture, Ginny ) should scroll along with you as you go down the page. That is, they keep moving downward with you, so they are always at the top of your screen. At least, that is what is happening as I roll down the page in Internet Explorer. This is my screencap of the bottom of this page. Note the page ribbon is still at top.

Editing to say: Anyother, do you mean where it says "Last updated" and lists the last post on the board? If so, it's at the bottom of the page, under "Forum Information and Statistics." It shows the last post, and then you can click to see other recent posts or threads.

Thanks for all the helpful tips folks. This is going to take some getting used to. It is annoying that you have to scroll back up to the top of the page to send a reply. I guess there's a quick reply box below too. As for the emo's I'm particularly fond of this one <evil grin>

Nell,there is still a Reply button at the bottom of the page that will take you to the full Reply box. It's been moved to the right hand corner of the blue bar in Quick Reply box. It's really stupid positioning for it, since it makes it seem like it is a part of the Quick Reply.

(And I've just found out that you can start to type your message in the Quick Reply box, click the "Reply" button in the upper right corner, and what you've typed will carry over to the full Reply box. That's nice, I guess.)

Thanks for the tip! Would you believe I hadn't even noticed that? If it can be changed, I still vote for putting one at the bottom too but as second best this will do.


I was looking in the help section to see if I could find anything about all those new functions like the shoutbox, applied effects and those things I keep on misreading as badgers . No luck there, but I found these:

I do miss the option of going to the home page or other from the bottom. I don't like the related topics and stories under me, wasted space. I think we will miss birthdays since they are not visible. Maybe it will just take some getting used to. Some nice features I have not figured out yet, or maybe never will. I do like the larger avatars. A larger Rufus face is always nice!

I also think it might be a chat, but who are you chatting with? If you type in it, does it just show up on the main page, and if so are the posts permanent? I googled but the answers still weren't clear to me. I may have to test it out sometime, in my spare time.

I hadn't noticed it either, until I decided to google to answer your question! I agree, it would be very useful. We'll have to keep a wishlist of unnecessary proboards "improvements" that we want do undo. (I'm sure there will be others.) Unfortunately, it will probably take us a while to, first, work our way through learning the current functions and, second, to learn how to change any of it.

Kygal, you should still see the page numbers in a gray ribbon at the top, as you scroll down.

A larger Rufus face is always nice!

Maybe that should be the Proboards motto!

My pet peeves about the new format is the inability to jump right to the newest post in a thread. Used to be if you hovered over the "new" icon and clicked on there it would jump you to the most recent post. Has anyone else figured out how to do that? And why are some people's avatars bigger and other'e (like mine) still the same??? It doesn't seem as if you can edit your avatar here - merely delete and upload new ones.

Self-conscious Proboards Smiley? Thank you, Rueful, for the laugh! Yes, seeing the funny side is always a good way.
I know it is a matter of taste, and I won't complain anymore - I won't use what I don't like - but the smileys in the older posts also have changed, so our past is laced with some unintentional creepiness. (Besides, the thinking smileys have turned into sad ones.)
