My pet peeves about the new format is the inability to jump right to the newest post in a thread. Used to be if you hovered over the "new" icon and clicked on there it would jump you to the most recent post. Has anyone else figured out how to do that? And why are some people's avatars bigger and other'e (like mine) still the same??? It doesn't seem as if you can edit your avatar here - merely delete and upload new ones. I think you are right, Rachel. I can't find any place to resize avatars anymore. Since it didn't resize itself, you would have to resize your image yourself in photobucket or imageshack or whatever before you link to it. The old avatar limit was 100 x 100. If your image in photobucket was larger, they made you resize it using the edit function in proboards. Now, I think (but I'm not sure) that it automatically uses your existing photobucket size, up to 150 x 150. That is, my avatar is 151 x 201 in photobucket. I had to resize it down to 75 x 100 in the old version of Proboards. Now the Proboards maximum has changed to 150 x 150, so mine (which is still 151 x 201 in Photobucket) shows up bigger than it used to, but is still smaller than the photobucket version. If you actually created a photobucket image that was sized to fit the old Proboards version (that is, if your actual avatar image in Photobucket is 100 x 100 or less), the new version of Proboards is not going to increase the size for you. Does that make sense? If you are using Photobucket, click on your avatar in your photobucket account, click edit image, and there is a resize option there. You can set the larger of whichever photo dimension is greater (width or height) as high as 150, and the other dimension accordingly. Hope that helps. I also don't like the inability to get to new posts quickly. I know it is a matter of taste, and I won't complain anymore - I won't use what I don't like - but the smileys in the older posts also have changed, so our past is laced with some unintentional creepiness. (Besides, the thinking smileys have turned into sad ones.) Complain away!! I think they are ugly too. The lines are harsher or something. That really made me laugh, for some reason! [<---- I don't like their new version of a laughing smiley either. How is that supposed to be someone rolling on the floor? It just looks drunk.]

Rachel, you are now know as the small avatar lady. Your post made me laugh! Enjoy! Just realized I have a female symbol , true, but I hadn't noticed it before.

Definitely having second thoughts about the changes to the board. I can see that the page number scrolls down the board, but nowhere near as convenient as at the bottom of the page. Also when coming onto the board to see the latest posts, TODAY stands out much clearer than so many minutes or hours ago. That's my take on it anyway, definitely think it's so easy to miss posts.

I'm sure we'll find benefits we didn't have before when we get used to it. I think older browsers might struggle though. Tried to log in on my works pc yesterday and I could only see the wallpaper with writing directly on it i.e no white background. I could see I'd got messages but couldn't open them. I wonder if there's a business case for an upgrade there somewhere :-)

Ginny - it looks like it might be technically possible to add the page number ribbon to the bottom of each page.....unless you're a technophobe, like me! The coding for stuff like that looks quite complicated and I'm nervous about making changes and mucking things up, but I will look into it at some point. Thanks for the links to the themes and banners pages - again, the problem (for me) is working with the codes, and I still need to find time to have a play around - so please bear with me! Rueful - according to the Proboards glossary, the Shoutbox is "An integrated box or part of the forum where forum visitors and members can come to discuss anything in a live, instant messaging chat room." I think it might be possible to remove it from all sub-pages and just have it on the home-page, so I'll look into that. I'm not sure if the messages stay there or disappear after a while, or if they have to be manually removed. Anyone want to give the Shoutbox a go?Going back to the page numbering, one of the things I missed was the ability to go straight to a particular page rather than scrolling through - and I've discovered we can still do that. All you need to do is click on the dots in between the page numbers in the ribbon at the top, and up pops a box where the page number you want can be entered. (I have to say, I agree with Adina about the smileys - they're not as nice as the old ones, although at least we have more now! ) PS - as I've said to someone in a PM, the default avatar looks like an alien baby!!! Creepy!

I miss the button "back to top" which was after each single post of the old proboards version - now I have to scroll up all the pages. Or is there a similar button I did not find yet?

Walt, back to the top is located under the sprocket symbol next to the quote button (top of each post). With regards to multiple accounts, though it seems I'm the only one suffering from that: when I log in, I get a tiny floating bar in the bottom right corner of my screen. I only noticed it recently. It turns out to have options like switching accounts and switching forums so maybe there lies some sort of solution (too lazy to try it). If anyone has issues with the smilies, I offer to host some on my photobucket account so we can all use them. Not really the simplest and shortest solution, but it works. I suppose we can't modify or add smileys to the list ourselves? I do think that some of them could use some work, the ROLF smiley really needs a bit of movement incorporated. -> GreenEyesToo, can we have a look at all that code and the instruction too or is it only visible for mods? I suppose it is not possible to mess the board up too much (famous last words! ) and as long as you take notes on how it was before it can always be put back the way it was (equally famous). I'm almost tempted to begin a forum just play around with it. Until total frustration sets in. Like after a week.

Perhaps it is just my preference but I liked the old more definite line between posts They appear to blend into each other now. Do you think it would be possible to make them darker? Something else I have noticed and it may be me ...freezing

Thanks a lot for the info about the "back to top" button, Ginny - I had tried the button left of it and then given up
And I really would not mind, if the lines dividing the posts would become darker - as Francesca said, the posts seem to blend into each other now.
But I appreciate that now you can have a preview of your post and you still can read the page of the thread itself!

Yay! The logo's back! Double yay, and thanks everyone for all the useful tips. As for the switch forum thingy down below, I think it's to do with having PB accounts for different forums. PB sort of linked them I think, cause I had to change 2 passwords into one. I don't think I'll use this feature though, far too confusing. If you click on the arrow you can get rid of it (just click the arrow again and it's back) though.

If anyone has issues with the smilies, I offer to host some on my photobucket account so we can all use them. Not really the simplest and shortest solution, but it works. I suppose we can't modify or add smileys to the list ourselves? I had already looked into that, Ginny, and it looks to be possible - so I'll be tackling that soon..... Thank you so much for offering to host some smileys, but I don't think it will be necessary - I have quite a stash on my own Photobucket account already, so will have a go at uploading some. And Adina has found the one that isn't currently showing up (one of my favourites) so I will definitely re-install that one, plus at least one of your ROFL ones! Thank you! I think it's only accessible by Uke and me, I'm afraid. With some adjustments, it's just a question of selecting and deselecting things, or moving sliders. For others there are long strings of words and symbols - those are the ones I'm nervous about! Haha, I wish I had your faith! Having said that, I have been tweaking a few things.....Perhaps it is just my preference but I liked the old more definite line between posts They appear to blend into each other now. Do you think it would be possible to make them darker? How does it look now, Frannie? I've made the lines more definite. They look a bit harsh to me, though, so I might change the colour. I will also be making changes soon to the basic colour scheme here, so that may affect the line breaks - if so, I'll re-adjust afterwards. You mean the page keeps freezing? That's probably the usual Proboards glitch! (They are also making tweaks at the moment)Yay! The logo's back! I did that! I managed to find where it was hiding last night! I've also made some alternatives to that horrible alien baby default avatar that Proboards lumbered us with - if you'd like to see them, and vote for our new default (I have used one of them already so I could get rid of the alien!) then go HERE.
