John Adams? Little miniseries for HBO that's shooting in the US until July then moving on to Europe?

I know, I was referring to the Dylan Thomas film. What a promising idea and what a depressing cast.....I'm sure Rufus would rather clip his toenails than join the party, even with no John Adams to occupy him.

ah yeah. so true. Though Kiera Knightly is someone I think has huge potential if she stays on course. I'd love to see her work with Rufus.

Hmm, can't stand nepotism though.

Hmm, can't stand nepotism though. I think, and I've been following this semi-closely because I thought it would be a good role for Rufus too, that it's Kiera's story and she hired her mother to write it. Her production company is doing it. Still nepotism but maybe not the way you were thinking?

Just looking at old posts - I just viewed some "This is Tom Jones" episodes - I would like to see Rufus in that role - the singer not the fictional character.

Oh no, I can't think of anything worse! I don't want my Rufus playing some shallow, leathery old womaniser. Also, who would play Mrs Jones now that Arthur Mullard is dead?

Ah, come on ruthy...wouldn't it be fun to see your Rufus singing and gyrating onstage while hysterical women threw their undies in his direction...explain please about Mrs Jones and Arthur Mullard..

Er no, it wouldn't. It wouldn't be at all pleasant for me to see Rufus playing a misogynist with an IQ low enough to trip over. The comment about Mrs J was just me being rather unsisterly as she is undoubtedly a saint. Also, I think the Tom Jones analogy is Rufus' nemesis as he's mentioned it before in interviews. I think he's more likely to play Joan of Arc, frankly. He might enjoy the knicker throwing though, although I think it's mainly incontinence pants these days.

In theory I agree with you...yet I have revelled in Rufus' portrayal of other misogynist males with questionnable IQ's..Petrucchio being my favorite of all of his roles...Robbie not the fastest horse our of the barn either but very watchable, nonetheless...Billie pretty seedy and shallow...Adhemar wasn't anything to write home about....but I love them all because Rufus does such a brilliant job on them.

As a fan of Edgar Allan Poe, I would absolutely love to see Ruf play the tormented author! I think he would be perfect for the role and would bring so much depth to that type of character. What would make it even better would be if they filmed in Richmond, VA, where Poe spent a great deal of time. I didn't know about Rufus when they were filming "John Adams" in Williamsburg and I don't even know if any of his scenes were filmed there since I haven't seen the mini-series yet, but if I had been a fan at that time and he was in Williamsburg, I would've been taking some vacation time and heading east!
I also think Ruf would make an awesome Bond bad guy, one that's complex like Le Chifre in "Casino Royale", not like the guy in "Quantum of Solace". I also believe he and Daniel Craig would have great chemistry onscreen. I can definitely see them playing off each other, although I would probably need a cold shower afterwards! With the two of them onscreen, the movie may end up coming with a warning from the surgeon general: "This movie may cause shortness of breath, flushed skin, heart palpitations, and wild fantasies in women and/or feelings of inadequacy in some men when viewed with their wife, girlfriend, or any female audience members."

Perhaps an angst ridden writer whose hit a stumbling block and starts to go slightly ever so slightly mad and takes us along for the ride.
