i followed about the same path
EH - "but who is this?" 9/11 - total concidence, found this by chance - weep weep MAJOR DISCOVERY!
and, about your usual tastes in guys, you perhaps will be intrigued about the fact that rufus often mentions his 80's style, when he was quite androgynous and wearing make-up! i guess you picked that up with your eye-reader's ability! ahhh, eye-liner arounds these eyes... yummy.
about the feeling of growing up... i have not much felt it yet myself, only in the minds of other people who act with me according to my "age group". inside, we dont change that much, do we?
i have never been much of a "fan", dont know why i got here in the first place, but i like it and i am having fun, and discovering new movies i had never seen, or that i re-discover. and laughing my head off reading posts!
let's face it, what we write about is not much different than when "girls" (any age group included) talk about "guys" and vice-versa, so that does not worry me that much!!!

RE: the makeup on Rufus bit- How cool! Well, for fun, I decided to upload a photo of a photo of me back in the early 80's during my "Old Duranie Days" for the sake of this post. It is at the lower right corner of the page (geez I hope this works) viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=168657837&albumId=289954Funny stories: I lived in a very conservative small city in Ontario Canada and I swear I was the only one in town who spiked my hair up and bleached it out like Billy Idol and dressed the way I did. (I would love to see pics of Rufus from back then!) I was too poor to go to a salon so I went to a barber. I would go in and he had so much fun cutting my hair that he would say, "So, what do we Do to you today?" LOL The photo in MySpace -my hair was slicked back into a ducktail at the back. Anyway, I would listen to a Toronto radio station and there was a show called "Live from London" so I got all the British music and fashion news. One night I heard that people in England were wearing garbage bags for dresses- so I actually went out one day dressed in a garbage bag dress! I swear if they were wearing toilet paper rolls in London I would have tried that too! And Lee Carter's accent and voice really was very appealing so I wrote him a letter. Lo and behold, he was visiting Toronto when he received it. He wrote me back saying that he wanted to "meet the girl behind the sky blue writing paper" and to call the station and ask for him. He came to my town and we spent a day together. He took me to dinner and bought me a Gary Numan poster! He was quite a gentleman. We wrote back and forth for months but alas- it was not meant to be.

;D Yeah, no kidding eh? I think the 80's were- both in music and fashion- the best decade of our time..... But I'm still rocking on! And oh the 90's and 2000's... My tattoos and piercings. When I'm an old lady I will have this ring in my lip which is now part of my face and a big Criss Angel trademark word across my upper back (he gave me permission to do it years ago before he got really famous).

OK.. OT here... but while we're on the subject..... I have 3 tats. The big Criss related one across my back which hurt like a sonofabi***h viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=168657837&albumId=1754596 , one on my chest of a rose with a lightning bolt through it and one on my left deltoids of a red dragon facing a blue unicorn with a mirrored Tao symbol (the "tai chi") over their heads. My best friend designed the AmystikA tat. My lower lip has a ring through it, there's a banana bar in my navel and my right nostril is pierced but I don't wear any jewelry in it right now. With my luck, I'll decide to get a permanent ring in it to match the one in my lip and then end up wanting to be with a guy who has a conservative image! Geez! I used to have my tongue pierced which I am considering getting redone. Years ago I got my nipples pierced which I have been trying to grow over for about a year. OMG! Don't ever get that done unless you really want it. I thought I was going to go through the bloody ceiling getting that done! And growing it over is no easy task, so I have been considering getting them redone with new jewellry. OUCH! My ears are pierced - on a more conservative note. Back on topic: I have something in common with Rufus- our eyes. Mine are golden green hazel and people have made comments about them. They are certainly not a beautiful as his though in my opinion. We probably have quite a bit in common as he is a Scorpio and I am a Cancer (my birthdate on these websites is never accurate due to protecting against identity theft- it is the right year 1965, but a few days later than what is in my profile here). They say that opposites attract and I suppose that is true to an extent - at least when it comes to magnetism- but I find that even with celebrities I find attractive, I tend to veer naturally toward those with whom I can relate to on some level. Anyone else here that way?

Vittoria, you must be a glutton for punishment, I would love to get a tattoo but sadly don't like the pain part. I have eight piercings, in my ears only. Did the last 6 on a whim. Touching on your musical tastes, back in the mid eighties the Ramones played at the local college I was attending and performed their twice, on the quad, mosh pit and all, what a blast. Sadly they never really got the recognition they truly deserved for giving birth to the punk movement. My favorite music is still the Beatles, Floyd and the Stones, although the 80's had some azing bands. Squeeze, Dave Edmonds, Nick Lowe, Elvis Costello still listen to them but can't abide today's music. Listen to classic rock mostly and cd's. If Britney and Jessica Simpson pass for what they call music today we are doomed.

Tip if you haven't already, I have most of Floyds' stuff including the stuff with Barret, sorry to say but I liked them post Barret, but that's just me. You should get a hold of Wish You Were Here, from the opening to the last track it's a gem, I like Animals (another great Floyd album) too.
I own every Beatled album (yes on vinyl) and cd too, not a bad track in the bunch. Listening to Coldplay is like listening to a poorer distant relative of the Beatles, although they're not half bad.

I actually kind of "discovered" Rufus a few times.
I caught glimpses of him three times - Middlemarch and Charles II (twice) on tv, on different occasions. BOTH times I had to leave for some reason, or couldn't sit and watch, can't remember why, and didn't watch much of either show. I was just SO struck by his looks. But, I didn't know his name, or the titles of the Middlemarch or Charles (or else I could've looked him up online!).
Then, YEARS later, I rented The Illusionist....as soon as I saw him I thought, OMG there he IS again!, although I wasn't positive it was him at first, since his hair and facial hair made him look so different...but was pretty sure it was him because of his eyes...you can't mistake them! So after The Illusionist went off I went straight to imdb, and ta-da! It was him.

Dark Side of the Moon is fabulous but I'm more partial to Wish You Were Here.
Miss October, do you have any favorites of his that made an impact on you? What others have you seen?

Peach: Am I glutton for punishmnent? Nah. Oddly enough, the opposite is the case! I have done numerous things for the sake of endurance training or testing myself. I had a very rough upbringing which led to being a difficult teenager, but eventually got down to training myself in every way I could in mind, body and spirit. In the case of tats and piercings, there is simply the appearance factor added along with the marking of major events in my life. My former training by one of my Martial Arts Masters was in what I have come to call "Shaolin Mind-Over-Matter Focus Technique" and although the nipple piercing was the worst of the piercings pain-wise, the piercer was impressed by how I handled it. So, I guess my training comes in handy. You went to see the Ramones?!!! You lucky duck! I agree- under-rated in their starting the punk movement. Tipou: Dark Side of the Moon rocks! ::::::SPOILER WARNING :::::: Miss October: I haven't seen the movie (RE: TOTS) but I enjoy Shakespearean stories, so I hope to at some point. I did see a clip via YouTube and it looks hilarious (RE: elevator scene). www.youtube.com/results?search_type=&search_query=rufus+sewell+taming+of+the+shrew&aq=0&oq=Rufus+Sewell Also, I did check out those pics the other day.... As usual, Rufus is exquisite!
