Vittoria,
I walking around the city (NY) with my sister on Saturday, walked past a tattoo parlor and was inches away from getting one, I have thought long and hard, I love gardening and would love to get one on the back of my wrist, I told my sister that after two martini's I'd build up the courage to get one but then she said that the pain was all a part of the process. Would I be considered a wuss, if I built up my courage? I am so very tempted, I'd want a small one nothing over the top. How safe is it too? How do I trust the operator?

Vittoria, I walking around the city (NY) with my sister on Saturday, walked past a tattoo parlor and was inches away from getting one, I have thought long and hard, I love gardening and would love to get one on the back of my wrist, I told my sister that after two martini's I'd build up the courage to get one but then she said that the pain was all a part of the process. Would I be considered a wuss, if I built up my courage? I am so very tempted, I'd want a small one nothing over the top. How safe is it too? How do I trust the operator? I've been lurking for the past few minutes, but thought I'd answer your question prior watching Heroes. You would not be considered a wuss if you have to bring up enough courage. Afterall, real courage is that if you're afraid, you go ahead and do it anyway. However, a couple of things you mentioned have me concerned. Safeguarding yourself is of utmost importance. Never drink alcohol prior getting a tattoo because alcohol thins the blood and you don't want that when getting a tat as there is some bleeding involved. Any tattoo artist worth his/her salt will refuse to do a tat if the person has been drinking. Secondly, getting a tat done after a simple walk-by is not a good idea. Research is the best alternative. Find out from friends who have tats whether or not the artist is reputable and whether s/he is any good at the art itself. Take a good look at their portfolios too. You also want to find out if the parlour utilizes hygienic measures such as utilizing fresh needles with each customer. The best ones actually make their own needles. Make sure the place is clean and sterile enough for tatooing. (Same goes for piercing of course.)

Vittoria,
thanks for responding. I have a few friends who've had work done, I will ask them. An yes perhaps the drinking part was not such a good idea after all. I forgot about that.

I'm with Tipou. I didn't know anything about tatoos. Anyway, OT is this message board's middle name! I love how far-ranging the conversation gets. Besides, one reason everybody seems to have "joined the fanwagon" (see, topic!) was Rufus's broad range of talents, which encourages philosophical and eclectic discussions.

... not to mention indulging in conversations we certainly would not have, say, at work. unless the boss is looking elsewhere. then again, sometimes, "conversations" might be a big word... sometimes it's more like group drooling... which is certainly ok by me too. its more fun to drool in groups than alone. jokes have better effect.

True. I haven't misbehaved this much since college!
Maybe that's why Jacob told Rachel her drooling was "cute" in the last episode. Perhaps he enjoys a good group drool as much as any of us.

Rumour once had it that Rufus visits these boards sometimes...... ;D (Hi, Rufus!) Wonder what he thinks of the group drooling?

from what i know about most guys, and rufus is certainly very much of a guy, he certainly would not mind women drooling over him- at a distance, so no risk of bacteria
anyway, i bet he must find us funny. if not, well, sorry, roof...

Either that, or he's busy taking out a restraining order. ;D
But hey, if he'll pop in and give us an official "hi" then I'll promise to behave myself from now on and only to mention Marco's sword when I actually mean "sword."
