All this talk of the very talented Mr. Laughton, you must watch The Huntchback of Notre Dame, OMG, what a masterful performance, heartbraking at the same time. You want to see pure expression run out and get yourself a copy. And nary a spud in sight, which in this case is a good thing.

Peach, I remember seeing that when I was very young, and being deeply affected by it.

I can't watch it anymore, Mr. Laughton's portrayal is so heartwarming and so tragic at the same time. He rarely speaks he acts with his eyes and expression alone. So good.

I first saw Rufus in A Knight's Tale, but I took more notice of the good guys, though I thought Rufus had done a great job! I probably got hooked on him after seeing his performance as Agamemnon which was amazing And then I saw him as Middlemarch and I thought, oh my god, he plays good characters too?! Sign me up! Then T&I cemented it forever. But, yeah, it was H.O.T. that had me signing on

Hi Everyone,
I first saw Rufus in 'Gone to Seed' many years ago (I think around 1993?) and loved him then. He had such a magnetism about him and I was totally gone when I looked in to those beautiful, Scorpio eyes. I have followed his career on and off over the years and am really happy to see that he's in 'Eleventh Hour'. As an actor, I think he is superb and I sometimes think that he is such a great actor, certain roles do not do him any justice at all. I feel that Rufus is overlooked as one of our great English actors and he deserves more recognition than he gets. So, I wish him all the best in all that he does and Rufus, you really are a very beautiful man.

Hi, Ellie. Welcome to the boards! I have just ordered Gone to Seed myself and am very anxious to see young Rufus.
Have you seen episodes of EH or are you waiting for it to air in England? He is a fabulous actor, and dare I say overqualified for the role of Jacob Hood (at least as it's written so far), but I'm glad to have him on tv every week.
Again, happy to have you here with us. Rueful

Hi Rueful, thank you for the warm welcome!!
Yes, Rufus is very sweet and handsome in Gone to Seed, I remember being distracted for days after watching that series!!!
My friend Carolyn's husband, Alex used to go to school with Rufus in Twickenham back in the early 80's and he said that you could tell Rufus was going to make an impact as an actor even then..he had that special something.
I'm looking forward to EH and Dr.Jacob Hood. I do often feel that Rufus is at his best in roles that have depth so I hope there is some of that in this series. He's a great actor and of course, very, very handsome.

Welcome to the gang, Ellie - it sounds as if you haven't been watching EH online, so hope you know that the digital channel Living is going to show it, possibly from 8 April (tomorrow's listings mags will confirm that). Don't forget to check out the Media section for lots of pics and links to interviews, and also our sister site www.roofsewell.com for pics, audio and video clips and lots more. Have fun exploring! Hi GE2,
Sadly, I cannot get Living channel where I live (I no longer live in London but out in the wilds of Cambridgeshire, although I am from London). I didn't know you could watch EH online...I'll just have to wait until it all comes out on DVD, luckily I have region free players so I'll just have to wait!! Unless some lovely person could record the series for me? I'll gladly pay!!

Sorry, Ellie, I didn't mean you could watch them online as they were broadcast, I meant after the event. I'll PM you with details of a website where you can access them (I don't want to advertise it publically in case the "powers-that-be" find it and make them remove the links!)

ELLIE, welcome to this group of seriously-devoted Rufus fans !! I just recently joined in February. When the first episode of The Eleventh Hour first graced our TVs, I became an instant Rufus fan. Since then my sister and I have been catching up watching most of Ruf's previous works. What a talented man. I have posted on this board many times that I believe he possesses true acting genius. I think he is one of the best actors of our time. And did you mention good looking??? Yes, I agree !!! As you familiarize yourself with this board you may notice many raging hormonal outbursts all due to Rufus himself. So, join in the fun !!!!!!!!!!!
