Just to keep this one going.....
We've started trying to have more "family go to the movies night" and weekend before last we all went to see "Disturbia". One of those that I didn't want to see, hubby did, and the girls wanted to just because they like Shia LeBeouf. It was actually pretty good. We all enjoyed it.
This last Friday we saw "The Invisible"........hubby and I didn't want to see it but both girls really did.........the first 30 minutes or so were slow and boring, hubby and I kept rolling our eyes thinking maybe this wasn't such a good idea (the movie night thing)! But finally it started moving along and we ended up liking it. It's not GREAT, but it actually was fairly good. There were some holes and one or two things that we didn't get.......but overall, it was a good film. Much better than we thought it would be!

Just rented The Polar Express (I have a little boy who's 2 and adores anything with trains), and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it! The animation is great, the storyline is not hackneyed and overly smarmy as children's movies can be, and I am a sucker for Christmas movies, what can I say?
Tom Hanks did a great job, I recommend it highly!

I loved Polar Express!
We saw Fracture last Friday.........another "ok" film, not great. I love Hopkins, he just creeps me out sometimes! The girls both thought Ryan Gosling was hot and great.......I didn't like him, but then I'm not 17!

What a terrific picture it would have been if they'd only done some sensible casting. All of the elements were there but the acting was completely dead. Cardboard cutouts could have done a better job standing in for the principles. It just breaks my heart see things like that when there are so many fabulous actors out there that can't get a decent job. I couldn't even finish it, it was so disheartening to see a vehicle like that go to waste.

Anyone seen Kenny? It was a delightful little indy film from Aus about a bloke whose job is installing portaloos and maintaining them for shows etc. He is just such a nice bloke who has some nice things come to him just because he is such a nice bloke. It's in a docudrama format which can be off putting but it was a very pleasant way to spend an hour or so on the flight over.

I just watched In My Father's Den--Kiwi offering with Matthew MacFadyen in the lead role. I love Australian and Kiwi films because they actually spend time on the story and the people. It's heaven. I wish Rufus would make a few more of them. Oh yes and I am anxiously awaiting Romulus, My Father. I've been dying to see it for more than a year.

I hadn't heard of that movie and I keep an eye out for Aussie & Kiwi movies, because like Maxx, I just love them. I'm going to take a leap here and guess that portaloos are what we would call port-a-potties here in the US? Why does portaloo just sound better? ;D

Portapotty it is!

This isn't a recent film but I'm in the middle of I, Claudius and loving it! Derek Jacobi is magnificent and watching a very young, very talented curly haired Patrick Stewart is a hoot! I just watched the love scene and My God that man is hairy!

Oh, my GAWD, I just love I, Claudius! You might also like HBO's recent series "Rome", as it is (sort of) a prequel to I, Claudius.

McKidd has a new tv series! Journeyman - it's filmed in San Francisco and is about time travel.
Maxx: Have you seen Bedroom and Hallways? Trainspotting? Great soundtrack!
