Oh, definitely! For some reason, I thought we were trying to pic as early roles as possible. So when is the official cut-off year? When does he go from "Baby Ruf" to "Old as Dirt Ruf"? 1998? 1999?? (Edit: I say this, being over a year older than him!)

Must say that Ross was the first to spring to my mind. Followed closely by Frank. Not sure that I would classify Gertler as in anyway cute or fluffy - angst ridden and angry more likely. William in PjT was cute and fluffy for me and Seth also gets a guernsey for the ballroom and counting scene. Ali Baba had several scenes which I cant remember at the moment but which could be counted as cute and fluffy. Robbie in AMONI has some scenes which could be construed in that way too. I suppose Ladislaw has some features but you still get the feeling that underneath the cute fluffiness there was a man of steel somewhere. Giles, for me, whilst looking cute (damned cute) all the time, was all man to the core and taking life very seriously. Debating about Petruchio - he was a big cuddly goofball lots of the time but fluffy??? not sure about that one.
I think I need to go back and really look at scenes huh? (any excuse will do, once I get back to my library!)

I think Ross and Seth would both qualify as cute and fluffy. Love Seth's wink as he lets the bull out of the pen! Gertler is too angry, IMO, to be cute. Will seems too serious and intense to be cute and fluffy, as was Marco. Giles I think is also too serious. Petruchio, maybe. And I agree with Quoll, I think I remember some scenes in Ali Baba where he could be considered cute and fluffy -- he was cute in the scenes with the camel and he was really good-hearted and kind. Yes, I think Ali Baba could qualify as cute and fluffy.

I agree, somehow I don't see Ladislaw as cute and fluffy. Physically cute/hot/sexy yes but that's not what I mean.
Giles is very serious but Rufus gave him such a kind nature and such saintly qualities that imo he is very, very, VERY cute. Not fluffy but certainly cute.
I love this discussion!

I think the category idea was yours Uke so we'll let you be the arbiter of what fits. By my reckoning there are only a couple of times when Rufus was cute and fluffy.
So I'm probably not understanding exactly what you mean.
As to Gertler... I could never take him seriously on so many levels. He's like a thwarted little boy who has been denied his dessert. In the scene on the stairs he seems to be on the brink of crying over his frustration, but I never see him exhibit any affection for Dora. It can only be some sort of misguided pride that keeps him from moving on to someone else as he could surely have (at least in the guise of Rufus) whomever he chose.
He's a little boy. Therefore he falls into the category to me.

Well, I think it's up to interpretation what constitutes fluffy and cute. For one thing, I don't mean physically cute because he always is. I mean huggable, pettable cute. You know, a character who isn't aware how squeefully adorable he is. I agree that Ross is probably Roof's fluffiest, cutest character to date.

lol! I'd like to think Rufus is past being cute at the age of 40. I'm sure he would as well since I think this thing we are discussing here has likely been the bane of his career.
I don't think you'll find many men who would like to be described as 'cute' at any age.

Psh, this poll isn't really about Rufus' self image. Let Rufus think he isn't can't play cute and fluffy, fine with me.

Well, I don't know I'm understanding well what you mean. Perhaps does "fluffy cute" mean the role in which Ruf seems like an helpless kitten to pet?

Well, I don't know I'm understanding well what you mean. Perhaps does "fluffy cute" mean the role in which Ruf seems like an helpless kitten to pet? Well I don't know that I think Rufus ever falls into that category, dreamer, but perhaps uke does. She should really be the one to decide since it's her selection but I think she might mean this thing I think of as in some spots I just want to hug him. But again, it's uke's selection so... and I'd like to nominate Midshipman Clarke from Citizen Locke who couldn't be "cuter" when he's sneaking around trying to get invited to the dinner table.
