The Woman in Black was pretty good. Nothing has creeped me out as much as The Conjuring. Will not watch it again. If you enjoy that type of thing, you may give it a try.

I really enjoyed The Woman in Black film with DR, but I have to say I was not overwhelmed by the stage version that I saw recently. As for The Conjuring (Kygal) - you've got me curious now, will have to watch that one!!

Despite watching 'The Woman in Black', I really don't do scary movies....that being said, one of my all time favs (although a bit dated) is 'The Changeling' with George C Scott...sooo creepy! I recommend it to anyone who likes a good old fashioned ghost story with no gore.

May have to try The Woman in Black. I didn't care for the book (though I've enjoyed Susan Hill's other books). This may be the case where the movie is better.
As for scary/creepy movies, one of my favorites is The Others with Nicole Kidman.

As for scary/creepy movies, one of my favorites is The Others with Nicole Kidman. Oh yes, that's a good one! I love a subtle kind of scariness. Splatter stuff doesn't appeal to me at all, but "quietly creepy" gives me goosebumps.

Yeah I like The Others also. May have to try your suggestion Rumantic. Not a huge fan of scary movies though.
The Conjuring is based on true (so they say) paranormal activities a family faces when they move in a house. Its also about the investigators who are brought in to help. My older brothers used to tease me when I was a small child that Joker lived in my closet. To this day I cant sleep when my closet door open or even cracked. There is a scene...that's all I will say. The end is a little goofy but parts were very creepy. This isn't a slasher type film.

To me the gory movies are more gross than scary. Movies where you only gradually realize something is wrong and nothing is as you assumed are much, much more scary.

I also enjoyed 'The Others'....Kygal, if you liked it, you might really like 'The Changeling'. Have to warn you though, the film includes a creepy 1900s childs bedroom boarded up in the attic and an old wicker wheelchair that moves around by itself! No open closets with cartoon villians inside, though, so you'd be ok on that front! LOL

HaHa Rumantic. I guess that's why I have never been fond of pale red headed men. No offense to anyone.

Captain Phillips is pretty intense. I knew how it ended, but .

Saw Jersey Boys. I think I was the youngest person in the theater. Enjoyed the music. Really had the urge to sing along but didn't.

last night I watched a good film that I had recorded.
Not such a little film as it had three big names--- Anthony Hopkins, EdHarrisand Nicole Kidman, The Human Stain
It is about a 71 year old university professor who has an affair with a 34 year old drifter(?) Before you go Yuckk, there is nothing Yuckky about this film ! It is a beautifully acted, beautifully filmed, very sad film which holds up our prejudices, past and present to the light; the soundtrack is filled with a mixture of lovely songs. I thoroughly recommend this.

Thanks to all you ladies who insisted that I simply HAVE to get "It's a Beautiful Life". We watched it last night as a belated Christmas treat, and both of us absolutely loved it - the humour, the drama, the whole idea of it. This will become another of our annual Christmas classics!

And rightfully so! Although I felt deeply sorry for James Stewart's George Bailey towards the end, he also made me laugh because his unnerved behaviour towards his family was stressed-out Mr. Kate to a T
