Not sure if anyone here likes the B & W films, a movie called "The Women" made in 1939; the recently remade version should be avoided at all costs. The original was a little gem of a flick and well worth renting. Almost any film directed by George Cukor should be in your viewing library. There's something to be said about the early movies, so well made and acted, for the most part. Another film entirely different is "Sleuth" with Laurence Olivier and Michael Caine. hated the re-make. I'll watch most anything with Michael Caine, what a wonderful actor.

She took the Architecture degree but after she never sat for the Professional examination. Another film entirely different is "Sleuth" with Laurence Olivier and Michael Caine. hated the re-make. I'll watch most anything with Michael Caine, what a wonderful actor. I agree about the movie, the re-make is shorter and the end comes suddenly, it seems cut, but I liked very much the acting of Michael and Jude too.

I saw "Ira and Abby"(2006) last night, and it was cute and upbeat with a likeable cast.Well cut.You have to like Jennifer Westfeldt to watch it(she also wrote and starred in that Jessica Stein film).Jon Hamm has a small part in it, too...quite the hunk.

The Deep End, is a goodie, was released I think in early 2001, Goran Visjnic and Tilda Swinton, really good and exceptionally well acted. Not sure how you'd describe it, thriller, mystery not sure, but it's a good film.

Just saw again "Dancer in the Dark" with Bjork, really good. Wonderful tour de force for her. Stay with it, it's a bit of a downer but try to stick with hit.

I saw Benjamin Button last week, Brad Pitt was wonderful and as usual Cate Blanchett was a treat to behold. She is one of my favorite actors. Was directed by David Fincher, who also did Fight Club (also w/Pitt and Zodiac (Gyllenhaal version).

Don't know if this counts as a "little film" but I rented "Hamlet 2" last week and it's hilarious! It's not for the easily offended--the big musical number is called "Rock Me Sexy Jesus"--but a great story about a quirky high school drama teacher trying to save the drama department from being cut from the sports-obsessed school where he works.
Another fun movie is the Showtime production of the musical "Reefer Madness". I'd heard of the play, which is based on the 1936 anti-marijuana propaganda film and I really love the Showtime version which stars one of my favorite actors, Alan Cumming.

Cat, I just saw that too. The photography was amazing. I had seen it earlier but not from the beginning. Well worth seeing again.

One that I quite liked was Mrs Palfrey at the Claremont - just a nice gentle movie with some lovely acting. I am also a fan of Saving Grace with Brenda Blethyn - it's a very nice little comedy.

as a good little movie, i like "brassed off" with ewan mcgregor and a dozen of great british actors. the story happened in the same town as in "the full monty", and a couple of characters actually appear in both movies. its a sweet story about survival, pride, love, and all that, and it's wickedly funny too - although the ending will certainly make you cry like a baby - but it's all good. very highly recommended if you have not seen it yet.
