I just read that too. Maybe he was flying Jet Blue from NYC and they've been on the tarmack since Tuesday. Rai

Or maybe he's superstitious, and thinks he won't win if he's actually there?
(Or does that sound desperate on my part?)

I cannot imagine. I mean: He's nominated and most probably to win. Would he really risked to miss his own distinction??? Absolutely odd.

This is getting silly - I have 4 screens open: This one The blog The video (just in case it starts working properly) Wireimage (just in case he is really going, and they just forgot to save him a seat - ahhh, poor Rufe! ) The video agenda seems to be: 7.30pm GMT - interviews with those performing + gossip 9.30 - red carpet, reception and nominees "By" 10.30 - interviews with the Best Actor and Actress. Right, so it's 10.30 then - can everyone make it?! (And I'm supposed to be writing an essay...the things I sacrifice in the pursuit of all things Rufus......... )

WHERE IS IT? ? (And I'm supposed to be writing an essay...the things I sacrifice in the pursuit of all things Rufus......... ) Oh yes, I'm quite in the same dilemma. I still have to write some letters to public authorities..."still" means: for two weeks or even longer... And my attention also goes out for the awards...

Yeah, we have to keep looking for the buttons to his left = our right-hand side.

All this angst and anticipation will be ridiculous if Rufus isn't even there! Did see a photo of Mr. & Mrs. Irons, however.

p.s. Sheila Hancock looks gorgeous - to think she played the dead mother in Gone to Seed

I find it slightly worrying he isn't there... unless travel has kept him in the US? My friend was booked on a flight on Wednesday from NY to London and flew out yesterday. Surely important actor boy Rufus would get preferred treatment over my student friend?
WHAT IS UP??

YAYYYYYYYY!!!! "Rufus Sewell has completed a full set of theatre awards by collecting the Best Actor Laurence Olivier Award. He’s not here, but Sir Trevor Nunn (black suit, mainly black tie - seeing a pattern yet) is here to collect it on his behalf. Sewell is filming in Canada, apparently. ‘The People’s Director’ does a good job of reading out Sewell’s acceptance speech. All this, of course, means that there is no fight between Sewell and Sheen as someone suggested earlier." www.thealternate.co.uk/?p=48#commentsFilming in Canada? ?? What's that all about? Pattirossssssssssse!!!!!!! ? (Oh, BTW, congratulations, Rufus - so proud of you!)

I find it slightly worrying he isn't there... Now that we know that he's definitely not there: It IS worrying!!! As I said before he looked tired at this NY-pic, well, but he's not even on the seating list (!), so it could not be a spontaneous decision that he didn't come. It's more than peculiar. It was foreseeable - even for him as he's known to be rather pessimistic - that he'll win, he's simply the best. Cannot imagine that he'd forgo voluntarily.

It was foreseeable - even for him as he's known to be rather pessimistic - that he'll win, he had no serious rivals. Cannot imagine that he'd forgo voluntarily. Duty calls apparently. The Alternate says he's filming in Canada. I guess it must be a pretty good job to forego attending the Oliviers? Can I just woo-f*cking-hoo!!! Someone send him a text or email to congratulate him!
