I hate to disagree but that's NOT what I want ---epecially for him. I was glad to be able to see him everyweek and I did like the show but I thought God what a waste of his talent. I wonder if he is bored. Especially after seeing him in Rock-n-Roll. But I knew if he was bored he would be way too professional to ever let it effect his performance. I was hoping it would be a success for him and help his career but I was hoping it was not a series that drags on for years. He seems the type of actor that wants to experience many different types of characters that challenges him. The problem is he will never find that in TV and may not even find it Film because the movies with the great scripts are Indies and don't even get that much exposure and the rest are crap. I go ever week to the movies and only the Indies deserve recognition. The place where the best scripts are..are in the theatre. So come on back to Broadway Rufus !! or get someone to film Rock-n-Roll I totally agree with you, Kriss!! I loved seeing new Rufus every week but would much rather see him in something that really shows off his talent. Here's hoping for Broadway!

But if he only did Broadway or British theatre, how cheated would fans like myself feel since we may never get to see him in that forum! Not all TV and mainstream movies are crap and drivel and I think Rufus has enough common sense and good taste to pick the projects that not only challenge and compliment his talents but also let those of us who are not fortunate enough to see him onstage enjoy his abilities.

I will (as I know all of us here will) support and enjoy absolutely ANY project Rufus is involved in- even voice-overs for children's cough medicine. XD On a purely selfish note, I want Eleventh Hour to continue because, as Ambra said already, I have very little chance of seeing him on stage and who doesn't love his wonderful face filling the T.V screen each week? (besides he still manages to give us some cool art-house projects even within the schedule of EH...like House of Usher!) My feeling aside, I am still supporting the idea of Eleventh Hour being picked up (however slight and minute the chance may be) because Rufus stated that he was enjoying the role and enjoying "being overused instead of underused for a change". Sure, I agree that Rufus' talents are far beyond this project, but as long as it is what he would like to do, then I support it!

I have to third ambra and famke--I want him to have the career he hopes for, of course, and I'm sure that will involve more theater in the future. But if he focused only on theater, most people would never get to see him at all, and that's as much a waste of his talent as anything.
In the past he seems to have managed to find projects that he's willing to take on in theater, tv, films, and audio so I'm hopeful he'll continue to enjoy a variety of options and then so will we.

Well, Ladies, I would like to post my views on this. I agree with ambra, Famke, rueful and eleanor. Any medium with which Rufus may choose to display his talents should all be welcomed equally. I believe that if an actor/actress is as truly talented as Ruf is, then he/she will be successful in all venues. There have been plays on Broadway or even in our local communities that have not been worth the time and money spent on them. That also goes for TV programs, etc. My wish is to someday see Ruf perform live... anywhere. Yes, a play on Broadway or in London would be a dream come true. I would have also really enjoyed being a spectator on the set of EH. What a treat to watch Ruf ask questions about a topic discussed in an episode or be given directions regarding a specific scene, or stand and observe as his make-up is being applied !!!!! Our television programing here in the US is embarrassing. There is so mindless poop no wonder our children have so much trouble with the basics of math, science and reading comprehension. But that does not mean that we should expect that it cannot change for the better. Most of the episodes of EH were very well done, well written. And even in the ones that did not meet our expectations, Rufus still delivered the best performance he possibly could have with the material that was provided. That is why I believe he is such a great talent and a professional in his trade. I really respect him for that. I know that I am being selfish in wanting EH to continue so that I can see Ruf in a current production each week. It was great to know that he had worked on any given episode just weeks prior to us viewing it on TV. Perhaps in the near future he may star in another TV series if that is the direction he chooses. I'll be there to cheer him on !!! Sorry if I've gone on for too long. I just needed to add my thoughts. I am still so disappointed that EH was cancelled..... this board is such good therapy !!!! Luv to all, Diane

Luv to all, Diane I agree with you Diane and you said it all very well. The UK is just the same as the US, where program quality is pretty poor. But it makes me wonder, what is the state of the general public's minds if all they want to do is watch drivel? Or is it a vicious circle of 'watch drivel, be brain dead, be brain dead, watch drivel'? It never ends. That is why I was so happy when I could watch EH. It stimulated my brain cells (and with Rufus to look at, it helped!!) but overall, a very intelligent and dynamic show, something not seen on our screens for so long. I have said this so much lately on various sites on the web, as it does tend to make me angry when I really think about the rubbish people are fed in the media. I am sure sometimes it is done on purpose, so that we end up not really thinking for ourselves and the 'powers that be' can then do what they like, because we won't bother to worry about it or say anything. Sorry, I am getting in to the realms of something here that is not for this board so I will stop. Rufus will take on work that he feels is right for him at that time. I look forward to whatever he chooses to do because I know he will be superb, a very unique and brilliant actor.

It's unanimous then, I too am in agreement with all of you. He will bounce back and most definitely will continue to work again. I was quite fortunate indeed to have seen him three times on stage when he did R&R in NY, I was quite literally mesmerized by that performance and it still sticks in my head as if I had seen it yesterday. He is a master at what he does and we all know what he does he does quite well indeed.
The writers let him down and the lack of respect was despicable to all involved. I don't think the suits had any intention of keeping the show any longer than the agreed upon 18 eps plain and simple. He's resilient and will bounce back from this little setback, I hope he did get to keep his wardrobe at least. I would love to see him do more theatre and of course films as well, he seems to take his time at the projects he chooses so it may be a long wait. I think he said it best when he said he keeps getting pigeonholed into the same type of characters strictly based upon his looks, tis a shame as he is so talented and the roles he looks for just don't seem to get offered to him. Chin up ladies I am sure there are some projects in the works for our green eyed wonder.

Famke, Ellie....my love for you both knows no bounds. Thank you both. Talk to you soon. (Especially since SG is gonna get back to me anytime now. His first attempt failed him apparently. Poor guy. Even his computer is betraying him.) Edit to say that his response is up. Go check out Planet Hood. I created a new thread just for it.
