With all due respect to all those who've worked so hard over at Planet Hood to get another series of EH, i fear they are fighting a losing battle.
The premise for EH was a good one - real science rather than sci-fi, but it was so poorly executed i don't really believe that any TV exec worth their salt would give it a second go. The storylines were weak, the scripts terrible ("i'm Jacob Hood - i'm a scientist"), the lighting appalling and there was no overarching backstory or relationship built up between the main characters worthy of coming back to each week. Just a basic crime procedural with a scientific bent.
Rufus was gorgeous, much too gorgeous, as Jacob but unfortunately that's not enough to get a second series. And to be honest, i don't think Rufus would agree to another even if they offered it to him. From what i've read/heard, his main focus now is variety and challenge and stepping outside the box.
I admire Planet Hood's tenacity, but am looking forward to seeing Rufus in a great variety of interesting and challenging roles in the future, and i honestly don't think Jacob Hood will feature amongst them again.

I hate to say this because I so enjoyed Jacob Hood. He was a marvelous character. But I do not think EH will be picked up and I actually hope Rufus Sewell begins to obtain roles that truly show what a marvelous actor he is. I have never been as taken with an actor as I have with him. There is simply something about him.

I agree with Numbat's assessment about EH. However, I will be eternally grateful for the existence of the short lived EH series as it was my introduction to an actor named Rufus Sewell! It was truly a pleasure to look forward to the 9PM Thursday (in the U.S.) timeslot knowing I would see a superb and good looking actor like Rufus. I really miss those weekly viewings. In fact, my son, in concern for my depression when EH ended, purchased for me the Ian Fleming James Bond audio books (12 of them in a CD packet) as being read by Rufus Sewell! I have not finished listening to all of them yet. But they are available when I decide I simply have to hear his voice. I hope that Pillars of the Earth will eventually come to the U.S. Having read the book, I think that Tom Builder was perfect for Rufus. I also look forward to whatever new and exciting roles he will find in the future. VMACIX: You express what I see so often in these postings. I ask myself daily "Why have I been so taken with this beautiful talented actor?" I am 72 years old (does that make me old enough to be his grandmother--almost) and it is a real thrill knowing there is a man out there that can give me "goosebumps" with the look in his eye and sound of his voice. Only Andrea Bocelli and his heavenly singing voice can also give me that thrill!

I can understand completely. I am 54, blind in one eye with a few other health problems, but when I watch Rufus I' m as giddy as a school girl. I feel 16 again. I wonder if he really knows how his talents effect us. Andrea Bocelli also moves me, but I really get goosebumps whenever I hear the late great Pavarotti sing "Nessum Dorma". I'm glad you had a chance to see Rufus in EH. Perhaps you could check out your local library for other movies he has been in. I rented "Charles II" and "Mask of Zorro" at mine. Pitzel

Pitzel Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't checked the library, but I have bought many of the DVD's of the Rufus movies. I find I can get them for a reasonable price at Amazon.com. Also have a couple of Bocelli albums from there. Pavarotti is great too.

pavarotti singing nessun dorma... ahh. yes. goosebumps indeed. loved him. i have to listen to that right now.
just want to include in the discussion a free ad for amazon.com's On Demand program : they do deliver region 1 dvd set of EH to canada now, i just ordered one.
i agree with some of the members here, i supported the renewal campaign for a while, but stopped when rufus declared he was in fact relieved the series was over. i certainly do not want more EH without him, since he was 75% of the show for me (20% was marley, and omar gets 5%, but just because he came in late).
but that will not stop me from abusingly staring at freeze frames on my new dvd set.

Welcome to you, ramart37!
I said my bit about EH last page, but I'm glad the show helped you to discover the joys of Roofing, like so many others, including me. I hope you hang around a bit and maybe give us your reviews of some of the DVDs you've been watching.

Welcome to the wonderful and sometimes very naughty world of the Rooftop. Frannie

I really meant for my first post to be here...its at the Eleventh Hour thread. Explains why I am here and why I continue to support EHRC. I am enjoying all the Rufus talk/info on all the threads. Most of you have been familiar with Rufus for quite some time. Its funny how an extemely talented and attractive actor on an 18 episode/one season series brought some of the rest of us here!

Susan, you can always copy and paste your message that's currently in the other thread into this one, if you want it in the "right" place. There's no other way to transfer it, I'm afraid. However, I'm sure most people will have read both threads anyway, so probably no need to do anything!
