I just wish you'd show some enthusiasm ;D
I'm happy for you though. I only caught the 2nd half last Aug. and I'm still crying. I have petitioned BBC American to run it again soon so I live in hope!

It's about time! I envy you that first viewing thrill - you will love it and watch it continually. I taped it on VHS but my sister taped it on a DVD so we could share it with our family.

Not me, I already have the dvd and have almost worn it out! I am hoping that I will soon be joined by a host of Aussie women in Rufus adoration! At least they might know who I am talking about!

Hey Quoll, I have two copies of the Region 2 version - I taped it on VHS so my family can watch it in the USA. I bought two in case one didn't take or was over-used. Isn't it the most fun you've seen him having - I love him and Shirley Henderson together.

I contacted the nice people at BBC inquiring as to who one must beg to get TOTS released in Region 1 DVD. This was part of their reponse: In order to request the commercial release of this programme in region 1, I would suggest that you put it in writing to BBC Worldwide who are responsible for the commercial release of all BBC products. The address of your applicable Worldwide office can be located via the link below: www.bbcworldwide.com/globaloffices.htmFor future reference, if you want to track down a BBC product, you can visit the following website: www.bbc.co.uk/info/contactus/bbc_products.shtmlI wish you all the best in making a successful request to have the programme released in the format you'd like. :-[Sorry I'm too big a spaz to make the links work. I think that it wouldn't hurt to request some of his early now unavailable work in Regions 1 & 2 also. If enough people request these items they may release a limited edition of some of them. What do ya'll think? I came across this address on another site while looking for dvd info on Holby City. The poster had a friend at the BBC and this was the address she gave to contact the office where it's decided if there is enough interest in something to warrant a release. BBC Commissioning Editor 3rd Floor 2 Entertain Ltd 33 Foley Street London W1W 7TL I'm going to write and ask for Ruf's early stuff, Citizen Locke, The Last Romantics and A Night With A Woman, A Day With Charlie. Maybe I'll get lucky and get a response.

Good for you Pattirose. We should all be bugging them but they don't seem to be payin much attention lately. Maybe you will get lucky. Never hurts to ask. Quoll I heard that on January 21st, there are going to be massive sun storms that are going to mess up ALL the tv reception in your area! ;DJUST KIDDING! ;D I'll be thinking about that big smile on your face, while you're watching it.

Would you believe that it is available here on dvd? <gloat> as a region 4 no less. However, I have had my copy for aeons and I paid less for the 4 episodes than it would cost me to get just the Shrew for a single episode! I detect much profiteering from the ABC! BTW I ALWAYS have a smile on my face when I watch it - and I do watch it often!!!

Wait to hear the dumb thing I did! I was warned, on this board I think, that even though TOTS is described as Region Free or maybe All Region I wouldn't be able to get it to play. Well I looked it up on Amazon UK & read a review from a Canadian who said it played just fine on her regular player so I took a chance Oh well, now I have a another excuse to as to why I really NEED an all region DVD player right???

As we have discussed on here, it may be easy to de-regionalize your dvd player, pm me and I can give you a link for thousands of codes! I have to be careful with my computer - it only has a finite number of region changes so you can get stuck in a region that you dont really want to be in although I think there are probably codes to deregionalize computer dvd players as well.
I think the last time I looked on Amazon UK, TOTS was a region 0 which means it should play on any player.

Yes, Ree, it's a perfectly good excuse! I used that excuse and it has worked wonderfully! Quoll wrote: I think the last time I looked on Amazon UK, TOTS was a region 0 which means it should play on any player. When I ordered my TOTS from Amazon UK, it also said it was a region 0........but it wasn't. It wouldn't play on my US DVD player at all. Luckily I had just purchased the new all region player! I think you can watch a different region 5 times on you computer then you must decide which region you want permantly. There is a website that explains how to reset your computer region code though. I never tried it - with dvd players being so cheap and laptops so pricey I personally wouldn't take the chance. My all region dvd player was only 29.00 which was less than TOTS cost me!

Would you believe that they arent allowed to tell you in Aus whether a dvd player is all region or not? They are not allowed to advertise the fact at all and, if you ask, the sales people just mumble something about this being region 4, live with it! I would love to know the site for resetting computer codes, that would be very useful even though I have two de-regionalized dvd player/recorders available.
Which leads me to the next point. As TTOTS is being broadcast on Sunday week - IF I was to record it and IF I could then make copies on my region free recorder would that mean that anyone who wanted a copy would be able to play it on their player??? I assume it would really be a region 0 version. Just a thought!

Quoll, I'll take a look for it tommorrow and post it for you.
I read on another site that the cheap $20. dvd players from Walmart are region free even though they don't say so, I know mine was but I wouldn't recommend buying one as I had mine replaced 3 times in less than 6 months. The 4th time I just threw it out.
