I'm so glad you finally got to see it! It sounds as if you enjoyed it as much as most of us did! You know, you're right about him saying that in Charles II. For some reason, staring too hard at Ruf's chest I imagine, I totally missed noticing the similarity of the line in TOTS. We must do a little research to determine if th lines are worded exactly the same! I only have the Region 2 copy of TOTS. Does the Region 1 have any additional special features? Also, if it has captions for the hearing impaired, you might try using it so that you won't miss anything. I often have to use captioning when I'm listening to Scottish accents or I'll miss a word here or there.

Miss O, if you need any of the dialogue clarified, I'm sure that one of us who has watched it 100 or so times will happily oblige... I'm so glad you enjoyed it; I'd always liked Rufus very much but this is the one which made me fall completely under the spell.

There are so many hilarious moments/lines. And so much sexiness.... Isn't it a hoot? If nothing else Ruf has ever done starts to chip away at that "brooding" image, this is the performance that will do it.

I often have to use captioning when I'm listening to Scottish accents or I'll miss a word here or there. He actually says it twice in TOTS - once in the airport, and once when they're in bed. I don't think it's the same word for word, but I swear he says almost the same thing in Charles... I need to watch Charles again! Nope, no captions! I'm not sure what's on the Region 2 dvd, but the Region 1 has a short feature of interviews with the director, producer, and Rufus - but he doesn't say much. I was disappointed on how short it was and that they didn't interview Shirley or anyone else. ethereal- I love him when he's brooding, but I think I love him even more when he's being funny! He puts some so-called "comedians" to shame!

Miss O, if you need any of the dialogue clarified, I'm sure that one of us who has watched it 100 or so times will happily oblige... Okay! ;D Let me see if I can remember/explain it.... -When Petruchio is outside of the church, after he almost curses and covers his mouth, he looks towards Kate and says a line or two, then bursts out in giggles (so cute!). I don't know what he's saying before he starts laughing. -When they walk into the church and Kate comments on his women's clothes, he says, "I'm not a ?" and "?? common misconception." There are a few words there I didn't get. -When he's with Harry in the restaurant, right towards the end of the scene, Harry says something like "even for a gold mine", then Petruchio says, "Harry, please......" then says something about gold, but I can't make it out. There are others, but my mind is blanking right now!

Okay, I cannot stop posting in here! I have another comment......on the "Scene Index" (or whatever it's called), the scene where Petruchio first shows up, the scene is called "Meet Peter"....Peter?!?! Why is that?

Okay, Miss O, I've just done some research ;D and -When Petruchio is outside of the church, after he almost curses and covers his mouth, he looks towards Kate and says a line or two, then bursts out in giggles (so cute!). I don't know what he's saying before he starts laughing. "The traffic was all snarled up round the Elephant and Castle. We were sat there ages (then the stifled curse) Sorry! ...and this bloke lends us his moped" "I'm not a poof. No worries on that score. Common misconception" "Thou knows not gold's effect" Can't help you with the scene index query, though. Any more? GE2

Can't help you with the scene index query, though. GE2 Oh I think I can help on this one. I seem to recall somewhere that they called Rufus character "Pete" - short for Petruchio. Probably some nutty American caption artist changed it to Peter. I don't think the R2 version has that sort of scene index, IIRC.

GreenEyes - THANK YOU! "bloke and moped" were the two words I couldn't hear. Now it seems so obvious! But I would have never guessed "poof" or "score" - they're not 'expressions' you hear around here.
I'll have to take notes (for the others) the next time I watch it, and post them in here!
maxx02 - You're probably right, I thought they might have changed his name to sound more American or something. How stupid!

I guess I need to pay more attention too, etb!!! I've been wondering when his name is ever said.......and each time I watch, I thought I was really listening........and I've never been able to find anyone calling him Pete or him saying his name is Pete. Each time she asks him his name or who he is.........he goes off on some tangent. The only way he refers to himself is when he says he's the 16th (or whatever #) Earl of Charlbury (or whatever it's called!) So where in the film does he actually say, or does anyone else say, his name is Pete? I want to find it!!! It's been driving me up a wall trying to find someone say his name!!!!!

He doesnt say it at all - someone was making a leap to clarify that he was a character with a name even though we never actually hear that name being said - unless you count the sub baby screaming vicar reciting the vows and even then you can only really hear "Charlbury" I think, if you listen carefully enough.

I knew I hadn't heard it...........but, at my age, I miss a lot of things! I even thought of the wedding vows.......but I specifically remember them NOT calling him "Pete" there! If anyone ever does hear it.........please, please, please post where it is! Or am I going to have to watch it AGAIN? HAHAHA

Yes to clarify, I never heard anyone say it in TOTS, I just remember at the time it came out reading him referred to as Pete... um, I wonder if it's on the extras from the DVD. Have to check that out...

I need more translations, ladies! I'll use question marks again for the words I couldn't hear.
When P. is giving Kate a tour in his old house: Petruchio: He bought these pigs, he was drunk, ?? horses. And Petruchio: ?? you'd have to pay for it.
At the wedding: Kate: You've been drinking haven't you? Petruchio: I have had ?? and we would've phoned you...
Wedding again: Petruchio: ....really big smile, just like that (pushes his fingers on Kate's cheeks) ?? ?? ??(there are a couple lines I can't understand) , then the priest stares at him, and Petruchio yells, "What are you waiting for?!!"
2nd elevator/lift scene at the end: Kate (after telling P. she's pregnant): I'm not convinced, you'll feed them all ?? (sounds like she's saying "chicken" to me.)
