Do record it, Zenina (and go for the English version!) - you can always re-watch it as soon as the DVD arrives PS: in my TV magazine they wrote underneath a picture of Marke and Isolde the names James Franco and Sophia Myles Ouch! That's so stupid that it hurts I don't think I would bother to record it if it was dubbed in German but like this- why not. Although I only have a videorecorder - so the quality will be medieval

T&I is gonna be on the CW (a South Carolina-only channel I think, unfortunately) in an hour! My mom actually came in and told me while I was in the shower, she thought it was that important. ;D

I finally watched Tristan & Isolde on Saturday. First of all - Lord Marke - I mean Rufus is to die for. I would do anything for that man if he was real (okay almost anything) But he is just so good and noble and selfless and gorgeous and beautiful and when he says to Isolde "I want to make you happy as a wife and a woman" I was thinking, yes yes yes - take me if she doesn't want to ;D ;D Rufus was first rate, the best thing in that film (I don't think anyone will disagree with me ) I even might have enjoyed the rest of the film as well (meaning all non-Rufus parts) if it wasn't for James Franco. After about half an hour I was ready to kick his butt and to slap his face, I just couldn't stand that same stone faced depressing grimace with later on constant watery eyes. I also don't care a lot about fight scenes and all that, so I found myself fastforwarding quite a bit. I did like the general look of the film, liked the landscapes and settings. The costumes were gorgeous, especially Rufus one's. The wedding scene was lovely. To the story itself - I do understand the love Isolde had for Tristan - after all if I had to chose between Morholt and Tristan, I guess I would pick Tristan as well (yes I would) until I saw Lord Marke of course Will watch it again of course, repeatedly, after all I have to savour all the Rufus bits and he is just so so beautiful as Lord Marke. Can't really get over this (not that I want to). I better finish with my ramblings ;D ;D

Join the club, zenina - if you have read through the whole thread you will have noticed that we all feel the same about that piece of wood called James Franco and about Isolde's choice. (Well, of course she knew Tristan before she knew Marke ... but still ...) Love that line you quoted Marke is such a nice, caring, sensitive man, Isolde should have counted herself very lucky to get this kind of husband in her arranged political marriage ... This was my very first Rufus film, long before I really got hooked on him, the one that made me look up the name of that stunning man I'd never seen before

Yes I've read some bits and pieces of the thread before but didn't want to spoil it too much for me. But I was kind of prepared for the stone faced JF but didn't think that it was so bad that it made me think violent thoughts I have a question to the DVD. The special features contain among other things supposedly images from the production design, costumes and other stills. Is it possible that there are only one pic each for this 3 sections. If I press the "next" button on my remote, nothing happens. Just wondering if there's something wrong with my DVD.

I think there wasn't more than that on my DVD either, zenina!
You inspired me to re-watch T&I for the fourth or fifth time last night (OK, I have to confess to some massive Roofing as I was not prepared to endure JF for twenty minutes in a row). Lord Marke remains one of my favourite characters. Such a gentle, caring man, and yet he has this certain dignified regal authority.

Haha, when I watched it again I was thinking the same things, zenina! I had my laptop out and was surfing the internet until it came to a Rufus scene. XD And the ending is just so lovely and heart-breaking. And of course, well... *points to the pic above she posted before* That about sums it up.

My best friend went to see this back when it first came out and she called me afterwards gushing about Franco (ewww) and it was at this same friend's home that I watched my first Rufus films: Zorro and AKT. She mentioned that 'that guy from AKT and Zorro' was in it too. Granted this was some years ago, before Rufusitis set in, so I didn't really care. Well, now that I've seen it I want to slap my friend for ever calling Ruf "that guy". How anyone could ever look at Ruf in this role and call him "that guy" is beyond my understanding, but there you go. This, to me, is one of his best roles and best looks. There's no doubt he definitely wears the buff-look well. I actually shook each time I saw him put his arms around someone thinking how amazing that would feel. I love that he's playing a big bear of a guy with a tender yet courageous heart that he's not afraid to show. The look in his eyes when he's looking at Isolde in the beginning, and how they change during his suspicions and finally that hurt when he learns the truth. and I don't know about the rest of you, but watching him yell at Franco was probably one of the best parts of the entire thing. If not the best. Despite me having to Roof this one extensively, it'll remain one of my absolute favourite performances of his.
