I watched T&I on Oxygen last night (hubs went to bed early..teehee)...it is still a wonder to me that she chose Woodface over Lord Marke.....he's so handsome, and kind and...handsome! If a man like that (Rufus as Marke, or Rufus as Rufus) said to me on my wedding night "I just want to make you happy as a woman" I think my clothes would spontaniously combust....

Tristan and Isolde is also on Film 4, 6.40 pm, this Friday, 7th Oct.
It often occurs to me.....Tristan dies. Marke is still King. Who is Isolde going to be with, after she's got over the death of woodface? Marke treated Isolde well, and loved her. He woudn't turn her away, and where is she going to go, with a war going on? Women do not wander hither and yon, unprotected, in such situations.

She made a poor choice...but I guess thats the story. I remember watching the interviews on the features on the dvd and the director or such commented that they made sure Marke was kind and nice so it would be a difficult choice for her and the audience. I took it that in the original Marke was not nice, but I am not sure since I was not familar with the story.

Her choice can be understood too... after all it was Isolde wo saved Tristan's life, and taking care of him could make a strong bond of friendship and love. He was special to her. Like the friendship between the rose and the Little Prince of Saint-Exupery.

I was so excited to see T&I because I had no idea it would be on! I didn't see this post, but I was flicking through the channels on Saturday afternoon (not really paying attention), and suddenly I see Rufus and let out a fangirly squeal (as usual). He was laying on the bed asking Isolde if there was anything he could do to make her happier (what a question!)
So I've finally had my spontaneous oh-my-god-Rufus-Sewell-is-on-my-TV-and-I-didn't-plan-it moment.
And it was fun!! ;D
Also, unless I'm wrong, I think T&I was a "premiere" showing for Oxygen. Oxygen tends to "premiere" films (films they've never shown on that channel before) and then they tend to continue showing them over an extended period of time, so maybe we'll get some new fans? Hope so!

An oh-my-god-Rufus-Sewell-is-on-my-TV-and-I-didn't-plan-it moment sounds perfect, Meg (second only to an oh-my-god-Rufus-Sewell-is-sitting-next-to-me-watching-tv-and-I-dind't-plan it moment, I guess ). And yes, that scene's perfect. I keep thinking: you silly, ungrateful girl.

I keep thinking: you silly, ungrateful girl. Marke is Rufus at his manliest in terms of physicality in my opinion (Aggie too, of course) and he's SUCH a good guy! When you have a man looking like that, looking AT you like that, laying on a bed, speaking to you in quite possibly the sexiest voice known to mankind, asking you if there's anything he can do to make you happy you DO NOT kiss him on the forehead and go to sleep. Isolde is the most aggravating character I've ever known. I honestly can't stand her. I'd go into cardiac arrest at the mere realization I was breathing the same air as Marke if it were me.

Isolde is the most aggravating character I've ever known. Oh, I don't know - I think Grace Melbury in The Woodlanders might beat her into second place!

What is it with all these girl characters that don't deserve Rufus? ;D
