Recently watching this cute film, I wonder why anybody hadn't posted a thread about it yet. I simply love it. It's a bit kitschy, but soooo light-hearted and lively, too. My favourite scene is the one, where Frank aka Rufus sits in the park, pretty boozed and despairing. What do you all think about "Martha meet Frank, Daniel and Laurence"?

loved it!!
Frank: My perfect partner is me. Martha: YOU? Frank: Me - with breasts! The perfect relationship. We would like the same food, we'd like the same music, the sex would be great!

Um, I don't know any polite way to say this except, I hate it. I don't even like Rufus in it, but he looks great. I'm not much of a Romcom person. The girl made me ill and I don't think it was one of Joseph Fiennes finer hours. Other than that it was fine.

The good thing about fancy is that every individual takes an own one. I agree with you, Maxx, the actress isn't the best and the most significant one they could have chosen for that role (BTW, it's the same thing with Heather Graham playing alongside with Colin Firth in "Hope Springs" in my opinion), but the film is sweet like nougat with a cover of cream. It's the perfect cure if you're in a bad mood. And who could withstand that mien?

I love this movie for its pure cheese factor, its abundance of British men, its glorious setting and uhm yeah Rufus and Tom basically.

it's abundance of British men Do you mean just British actors playing ther, or do you also mean the scope of illustration of British men in general? If second: Couldn't you please tell me a bit more about British men for I don't know how they are like (I fear, I even don't know how the German men are like...). Cannot imagine that they are that silent and reserved or ironic and cankered or whatever.

Me, too. The whole list of my favourite actors makes a reading like a list of gorgeous Britons: Rufus Sewell (first ranking, of course) Clive Owen Colin Firth Gerard Butler Christian Bale Peter O'Toole Peter Finch Stephen Fry .... (almost endless... )

I have a question about this film...........I've seen the US version "The Very Thought of You", and it was cute.....not great, but cute. My question is.......is the UK version a different version? Is it longer, different scenes, etc? If so, I'd like to get that version now!

I absolutely loved this movie!!!
mcr5137: I was wondering the same thing. I checked the running time and Martha meet.... is listed as being 1 minute shorter than The Very Thought of You. BUT I seem to recall in a post someone mentioned something about scenes being cut for the US version, I can't find the post though - if I do I'll post a link.

I think it might not have been the finest movie ever made (and Monica Potter was quite annoying for some reason), but I think Joe Fiennes and Ruf were quite adorable in it.
I loved the "me with breasts" line from Roof, it's the best line in the movie.
