Nice vid! Not sure if popularity here will be what brings Zen back, but it wont hurt! I am encouraging as many people as I can to watch it!

Here is an interview with Rebecca Eaton, Executive Producer of Masterpiece. She briefly mentions Zen and the "gorgeous" Rufus beginning about 35 sec. into the interview. www.youtube.com/watch?v=38MZiz1DCQ0

Perhaps she'd care to stump up some cash to make some more, then?! ;D Thanks, Rueful.

I get a message that the uploader has made this unavailable in your country. Huh !!!!!!
Still I'm getting to the stage of burying my face in a plate of pasta and suffering death by carbonara if I hear any more gloom and doom over the lose of Zen. After all, it'll get made if another channel takes it up due to overseas interest. Or it won't get made - simple as that. And yes it was great. But look on the positive side - what other projects may come Rufus way that otherwise wouldn't have if he was filming Zen and heaven forbid he'd they'd change Zen and make it into something different from the Zen we know and love. This is what Rufus indicated in his interview for Austrailian tv after all. So - I'm all for moving on from this one. After all Rufus has many more strings to his bow.

Not the first time a Rufus series I love has been cancelled and not picked back up. Have not had my hopes up to high this time. It is what it is. Would love for it to return, but if it doesnt...look forward to other RS work. Its just that when you are introduced to a great character...you want it to continue.

I get a message that the uploader has made this unavailable in your country. Huh !!!!!! Sorry, Nell. I didn't pay attention to the fact that the video was uploaded by PBS itself. It's just a brief mention and some gorgeous shots of the show, but here's a link uploaded by another source; maybe you can see it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiTz_I0GIU0Still I'm getting to the stage of burying my face in a plate of pasta and suffering death by carbonara if I hear any more gloom and doom over the lose of Zen. It's wonderful to be able to see Rufus in a variety of work. In the last couple years since EH, his participation in the films also introduced me to both the TPOTE and Zen books. Unfortunately the people in charge of things like television only care about numbers, not quality, so if no one complains or makes any noise about Zen, then there's next to no chance of it being picked up. It may not happen anyway, and it certainly wouldn't be the end of the world if it didn't, but it doesn't hurt for people to try. Its just that when you are introduced to a great character...you want it to continue. Yes, well put! Zen has a lot of stories left in him.

In a way I agree with nell, that the series will be continued, or not depending on the circumstances. But I also believe that sometimes a good project needs a little bit of support and help. For example, ZEN, Charles II, The Taming of the Shrew and many more have not been shown in my country at all, and many people do not even know of their existence. Even I did not know about Charles II, if it wasn't for my constant curiosity and interest in Rufus, which brought me here. I know many of my friends would appreciate both ZEN and Charles II, if they could see the series. All I am saying is yes, it may not continue, and Rufus will be acting in another project (I wish him that with all my heart), but does not hurt to try and I will regret it if I don't do what I can to spread the word. Also, now it becomes even more difficult, because of the economic run-down throughout the world, for projects to become in production, which means also more difficult for the actors to be part of those projects. At the moment, unfortunately many of the popular movies and TV shows are not the ones worth watching, and the ones that do have quality in them, just stay in the corner, or are stopped. And this applies to the cast as well. Do we want to see more Rufus perform? If the answer is "Yes" than we can and must do something to express our opinion.

I am just glad some of my work friends can watch Zen when it comes on here. They have not been able to watch my Zen dvd like they have my Pillars dvd. Just trying to show off our fellow to those poor things that are not very familiar with his work.

Thanks Rueful. I can see the youtube clip now. A new part of the family hey! In her dreams . I'm really pleased Zen is being shown in the US and I hope a good many places too. I hope it gets all the attention and promotion it deserves. Sadly in the UK we're lumbered with Danny Cohen and the tv here has taken a serious nose dive of late. Unfortunately petitions and the like don't get any attention paid to them in the UK. So I hope nobodies holding their breath! However, (trying to keep an upbeat tone here, whilst wiping spaghetti from eyes ;D) the only hope I can see is that either an alternative backer (ITV, Channel 4, Sky) will buy the first series of Zen and repeat it and based on it's success go on to make another series. Or Danny Cohen will get kicked out after his first year when viewing figures reduce to 10 per program and we'll get someone who actually knows what they're doing they'll get right in touch with Left Bank and beg them to do another Zen series. In the meantime I'm looking forward to finding out what the couple of projects were that Rufus referred to in the interview he did for Australian tv.

Nell, I agree with what you are saying. The quality of tv has been compromised here as well by poor decisions made by some network execs. The reality of a shows return as time passes grows slim. But, its always good to have hope! If I was totally into reality....I wouldnt be here enjoying my Rooftop world of Rufus. I am looking forward to anything HE does.

From your lips to God's ears! A very brief blurb in the local paper, in an article titled: 7 summer TV shows that you’ll want to skip the beach for‘Zen’
“Masterpiece Mystery!” introduces us to Aurelio Zen, an Italian police detective played by Rufus Sewell (“Dark City,” “The Tourist”) and his bedroom eyes. The three episodes are based on books by Michael Dibdin. 8 p.m. July 17 on WTTW-Channel 11.
