I think we are so used to a Rufus character not being alive at the end. I was thrilled that was not the case here. Great movie!

Now that I think about it - didn't Rufus mention/kind of complain about some cuts in this movie? He was speaking about how the fact Mick was from Maine was cut which made his choice of accent for Mick kind of moot. And I agree with everyone about the voiceover from Evelyn, I think it made the movie more poignant, more personal.

Oh, yes, of course I remember a mention of the Maine accent that ended up on the cutting-room floor. (Now, I wonder why they didn't just let him keep the accent. He could well have had it even if he never actually said he was from Maine, could he?)
They probably cut some bits and pieces that wouldn't change the general plot but might have added some interesting details.

Rufus' work discarded and left on the cutting-room floor should be banned on principle...

I absolutely love this film. One of my favourite Rufus roles, I find it very atmospheric, I love the music and cry my eyes out every time at the end.

Yep, I think IASL is on everyone's favorite list. Not just a wonderful love story, but Rufus actually survives!
