news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090211/ap_on_re_us/octuplets Looks like California, who is already in the red will be footing her bill. Lovley eh? They are talking about having the authorities take the newest kids and adopt them out. That's the only thing that would be fair.

My parents had a bunch of kids by today's standards, but my mom always said, "nobody ever gave your dad a raise just because another baby was born." They made do or did without and they didn't ask the state for help. If she can't care for them, she shouldn't keep them. My grandfather on my mothers side came from a family of 10...and that was during the Depression. Mom says that he could remember eating liver and beans for months on end...

Maybe this will seem unrelated to the baby stuff, but it really bugs me to look at her mouth. It looks like he's had some kind of scary Cher wannabe cosmetic procedure. I know a lot of people have such procedures, but you just combine it with her overwhelming "need" to have more children she can't care for, and it should have been a big old red flag for the doctor. It was about her need to fit some kind of weird self-image, plain and simple, and not any thought whatsoever about any eventual babies. Some people are comparing her to Angelina Jolie, as far as the lips and it also looks like she had some work done on her nose. Now she's set up a website about the octuplets and is asking for donations! Unbelieveable! She has 14 kids she knows she can't support and not only is getting government assistance but has the nerve to ask strangers for additional funds!

The woman is clearly not of sound mind. Perhaps she has an Anjelina Jolie fixation, she had a bad childhood, she has a rotten family life, you name the excuse, she's given it. Now she's using her kids as shills, what a complete and utter disgrace. For the sake of the children, all 14 of them they need to be given to someone who has the mean to take care of them. She should be under a doctors care. The less publicity she gets the better off we'll all be. I've read accounts where her own mother wants nothing to do with her. What a sorry state of affairs. Her 15 minutes were up days ago. How on earth can she care for all of those kids? I can see her selling her story to Lifetime for a pathetic movie of the week.

Now if the whole octuplet thing didn't tick me off, I just read a story on msnbc.com that really makes my blood boil! Two judges in PA have been accused of taking a total of 2.6 million dollars in kickbacks from privately run youth detention facilities in exchange for sending kids there. One of the judges had the county run juvenille detention facilities shut down and made sure the private facilities got a lucrative government contract; the monetary amount the facilities got was based on the number of children sent to them. The two judges would then take teenage kids, many of whom had never been in trouble before and who had no legal counsel, accussed of minor offenses like stealing change from cars, leaving prank notes, or possession of drug paraphenalia, and send them to these facilities for months after a minute or two "trial". Legal experts are predicting hundreds of cases will probably be overturned but the damage done to these kids can't be erased. I can't imagine being locked away from my home and family for months for what amounted to a stupid teenage mistake. One judge released a statement admitting his guilt, saying he was ashamed he had "disgraced the bench" but not a single word of apology to the children his greed has affected!

That's terrible ambra! I hope they'll prosecute the owners of the detention facilities as well and actually sentence them to some time behind bars. It seems so many times the "white collar" criminals, who often do permanent damage to people's lives, get off with fines or probation.

thanks, but no thanks. we have our madoffs in canada, and it seems incredible to me how cocky these bastards can be. they get away with your money and then complain of having suffered during their days in court. when they get their days in court at all. makes your stomach turn, frankly. and then i see my friends who worked hard all their lives and now thier retirement is compromised because their money is not there anymore. i was on and off jobs for a long time, so i never could build that retirement fund myself, but i thought, i live in one of the richest countries in the world, i will have pensions from the governments, pensions that i paid off my paychecks... well, guess what. quebec pension funds probably lost 1/2 its value because it bought too much of those shady papers that brought down the u.s. economy... the sex pistols were right... our generation has no future.

Ok, here's my rant. I work nights and don't get home until at least 2am. By the time I settle down enough to go to sleep, it's usually around 5am or later. For the last 3 days, the people across the street have been moving stuff out of their office buildings. Starting between 8am and 9am, they have a forklift going which makes that shrill BEEP BEEP BEEP sound when it backs up. Even with earplugs in, it's like an alarm clock going off every couple of minutes. I've had little to no sleep in the past 3 days and I'm exhausted. On top of that, someone in the office today for some odd reason has brought in either gasoline or kerosene and the fumes are giving me a headache. I just want to find nice, quiet, dark corner, curl up and go to sleep.

Thanks! The neighbors either took a break today or they're done so no BEEP BEEP BEEP to keep me up. Turned out yesterday someone had come into work after spilling gasoline on themselves. They were told to go home and change because the fumes were so bad.
