Good luck to your team, Ambra! I always love underdog stories, so I hope they do well.

I just have to rave about a company I read about in Ok magazine a couple of years ago. They're called saintsforsinners.com and they take imported saint and icon medallions from Italy and handpaint each of them so no two are exactly alike. Even if you're not a particularly religious person, these are beautiful little works of art. Bruce Springsteen, Robbie Williams, and Johnathan Rhys-Meyers are some of their celebrity customers. I got my mom a medallion of St. Ann, the patron of mothers, for Christmas about two years ago. I ordered a Guardian Angel medallion last week but they sent me a Sacred Heart one by mistake. It's still a small, home-based company so when I called to tell them about the mix-up, I actually spoke to Rob, the man who started the company. I offered to send the medallion back and he said, "Oh, don't worry about it. You can keep it for yourself or pass it along to someone you think might like it." Not too many businesses, big or small, will just let you keep something you didn't pay for, even if the mistake is on their end! So I'm wearing my Sacred Heart pendant right now, I have an extra St. Ann pendant which they sent by accident when I ordered my mom's and again, they told me to just keep it, my Guardian Angel medallion is on the way, and I plan on getting a St. Christopher and a St. Francis pendant I like them so much. And at $16.00 plus a couple of bucks for postage, it's not like they're outrageously expensive. My niece is graduating from High School this year and going into nursing school so I'm going to get her a medallion of St. Agatha, the patron of nurses, for graduation. I might take some pics of my medallions and post them so you can see how detailed and beautiful the painting is on them. They have a gallery of some of their medallions on the website but again, because each one is individually painted, each one is unique and may have different color schemes. They also have an option now where you can choose the colors you want the medallion painted in for an extra fee. I admire whoever paints them, not just for their artistic skills, but for their eyesight! I'd be permanently squinting if I tried to do something like that!

I have a very happy rave, two mourning doves decided to make my air conditioner their home. Nest building started well over a month ago, little twigs here and there, followed by some leaves and assorted scraps here and there. In due time their home was made, each took turns caring for it and adding things until it suited them to their liking. Having done some research on the net, in due time she appeared to be in the final stages of laying her egg. This was aproximately three weeks ago. Soon there appeared in her nest one failry good sized white egg. Incubation takes aprox. 15 days, true to their nature the egg cracked I think sometime this morning, and in the nest a little mourning dove was born. Welcome Spring, and rebirth and renewal. I'm doing my best to think more positively as of late that has been quite a task, this has restored my faith. As I speak she is sitting in her nest, with the little one warm underneath. That's my rave for the day..............YAY SPRING!!!!!!! :'

We certainly could have used it today, quite unseasonably warm, one day it's 40 and raining and today it hit 80. I went to the beach today for a run, what a day. It would have to be pretty hot for me to use the AC the house is quite cool, we have quite a few trees so it keeps things nice and airy. I'm hoping the warm weather holds off for a while anyway.

ambra, there is no way i could tell you how i appreciated this mention of saints for sinners. just what i needed at this very moment. thank you so much. You're welcome, tip! Have you ever gotten any of their medallions? I may have to get a new Guardian Angel one; I had been using a heating pad on my sore ear and didn't realize that the medallion was under the heating pad. It ended up taking a tiny bit of the paint off. Peach--that's so cool about the mourning doves! My dad had a hanging plant on his front porch and every year, a sparrow would make a nest in it. We couldn't go out the front door while she was there because we didn't want to disturb her and her babies. We used to watch her feed them from the front window. My dad would have to be extra careful when he watered the plant so he didn't get the nest wet.

Oh Ambra, that is so sweet, I finally caught a glimpse of the little one in the nest. He / She was fluttering their wing and was very excited. None of us here are sure if it's a male or female. The mother sits on it all afternoon, it's been quite chilly and rainy here, hopefully the warmer weather will make an appearance. Aint nature wonderful???

I'm not sure if this is a rant or a rave. My son was finally formally diagnosed as PDD-NOS, a form of Autism. They call it a 'minor' form but as his therapist pointed out it is ANYTHING but minor. He hates noise, especially when he is very tired. He has lower than average motor skills and lower than average language skills. (he was also diagnosed with a speech impairment) He has shown improvement with the language side and hopefully will keep getting better.
He does some really odd things. He only eats a certain way although he will eat just about anything. He HATES to paint/draw/color and cannot even write his ABCs. (he is nearly 6) However he was given an IQ test and scored well above average. He doesn't like public bathrooms that have lots of stalls, he points with his middle finger instead of his index, he refuses to go without shoes at any time, he is obsessed with model trains and is an absolute perfectionist about setting them up. I will stop there cause the list could get very long. lol He is an interesting little boy. I admit he can make me really laugh at times though. When he thinks something is funny he will laugh like a madman and then after he calms down he sits there for a few minutes then says "That was funny". I laugh every time.
It's nice to know exactly WHAT is wrong. They said long ago that it was probably autism but there was always that lingering doubt that it could be something worse. I'm thankful that it is not but at the same time I just wish he could be a normal kid and not have to deal with this frustrating disorder.

Your son sounds like a sweetheart, Rainy. The diagnosis and treatment of autism has come a long way and I'm sure he'll do great with whatever he pursues.
I have to add a rant to this. I absolutely hate it when people flick their cigarettes out of their car windows when they're driving! If they're going to smoke, fine. It's their choice but use the ashtray when you're done! That's what it's there for! How many fires have been started because someone carelessly tossed their cigarette out of their car onto dry grass or brush?

Rainy, sometimes just knowing something definite helps to ease the burden, and I hope you find that to be the case. Some things will be hard for him, and that's so difficult for a parent to watch, but at least he has your strong support to help him along.

Rainy, I agree with what the other girls said!
The stories you told about your son made me smile, what a cutie! I am glad you finally have an official diagnosis, I know what it is like to worry endlessly about a child's medical issue. What do they say.... knowledge is power?
With this information you can toss aside the helpless worry and move forward with understanding and some sense of control. Congratulations to you and your son, I wish you the best.
and yes Ambra cigarette flickers really BURN ME UP.... sorry couldn't help it.
