Me too, PGG Love it. Its so amusing and witty one never tires of watching it! Rufus needs more parts like this where he can show off his versatility for comedy and drama and play the handsome hero. Which he well suits.

I'm halfway through the third round of TOTS, too, and also beginning to understand more of the dialogue each time. The wedding scene always has me torn between shrieking laughter and compassion for poor Kate who sees herself made the nation's laughing stock and her career going down the drain I love when she murmurs all kinds of nasty things to herself before saying "I will" And, of course, Petruchio Rufus does all of his facets so well, the loud and funny side, the drunk bridegroom in drag, the tender lover, the doting dad ... and beneath it all there's still the six-year-old, never far away from the surface. In real life, he'd probably drive me just as mad as Kate sometimes, and then all he'd need to calm me down would be some boyish twinkle in his eye

I just watched it all off of YouTube. Totally loved it. The face when they go out to check the 4 flat tires was priceless. Not to mention the knickers line

After the sad Woodlanders last night I just needed some cheering up today. After 30 seconds of Petruchio and I was grinning happily - this is also one of Rufus roles and the whole film that get's better and better the more you watch it. All the little expressions Rufus delivers with his face and his whole body language is just so funny, endearing, and so so sexy. And Harry is growing on me too

i especially love the scenes where he gets more mischeivious!! But i think i laughed the most when he arrives at the church.. the whole wedding scene was hilarious!! he did so well at pretending to be drunk.. he got all the facial expressions and behaviour perfect! just shows what a wonderful and talented guy our Roof really is! Shirley was excellent in it too! this is def a film to be watched & re-watched if ever you need a pick-me-up.. this is the one!!

I particularly love the scenes where Rufus allows little signs of vulnerability to show through. At Hazlington when he is talking about not wanting to lose the house. It's been in the family for generations and he is not going to be the one to lose it. and again His mother.. they didn't need her ... how old was he... six... the bullying at school ... the shrug. And of course the lift scene when he asks if Kate would have had the pre -nup agreement ... the look.. the eyes watching Kate. ..waiting to be rejected Too often comedy is overlooked when judging acting ability; dramatic roles coming first This is not only a splendid play, one of Shakespeare's best, but truly a many faceted performance from Rufus!!

Indeed.. i like the way that the mischievious things he does when they are in Italy, he does to allow Kate & him to grow closer together.. almost like he thinks she would reject him if he doesnt force her to spend time with him.. its like he thinks she wont want him as he is..
he mixes incredibly well the comedy elements of this production with the more demure undertones of his vulnerability which we also get to see brought out by the quality of his performance. i agree with you Frannie.. too often a good performance is judged on the 'seriousness' of an actor or role, but here we have both comedy and vulnerability.. which is probably why i like is so much!

That's what he does with almost every character, bring out the softer sides, an underlying vulnerability - even with some of the creepy guys he's played like Martin Ricardo in "Victory" - thus making them so human and believable!

Ahhh, you guys are so good at putting what it is we like about his acting into words! That is it EXACTLY! The little glimpses of vulnerability and humanity in every role, making you able to relate, whether it's a bad guy or a goofball. A master of his craft, Rufus.
