Finished! Loved the last episode in particular, all that play on truth and lies, the triplets making up with each other and trying to save Hilda from being imprisoned. The cop was cool, too, with his funny faces, seeing through the siblings' thin manoeuvres but not really able to put his finger on what exactly happened.

The whole series was wonderfully over the top, absolutely hilarious. Many good laughs for anyone with a sense of weird black humour. I didn't even mind the supernatural scenes, they fitted into the general frame of overblown, absurd storylines.

While I didn't really warm to Winston and his family until the end, Hilda and Monty were my favourites (beside Rufus, of course, but more on him later). I loved how Hilda finally found some self-confidence, and I loved how Monty always took all his bad luck with a kind of wry humour.

Young Rufus is purest eye candy from the beginning of the series to the end, gorgeous green eyes and expressive face showing the slightest emotion so believably The shooting and ensuing hospital scenes were heartbreaking - it's just hard to see him half dead on the floor and afterwards so weak and pale in the hospital bed - but I loved the humorous touches even in those scenes, like when he complained in the ambulance that she had ruined his new Armani suit I can't help but repeat that this early work is already a marvellous example of Rufus's fine acting. Another actor might have rendered Billy a mere caricature, but he succeeds in giving him substance and credibility. (And of course it doesn't hurt that he's drop dead beautiful )

I really love :-*Billy Brooker ... sometimes I thought, come on Billy - you're too good for Hilda... GTS is so funny and awesome... and I'm still laughing about this movie and of course Rufus.

yes, and I love the scene in the ambulance... no drama, I love you and it was an accident .... he was fallen so in love to Hilda, but she shot him, 'cause she was jealous.

Also I love the singing scene on the market... ha, ha ... Rufus wanted to sing higher and couldn't ... and holds down the throat ...

I have seen GTS soooooooooo many times... this young Rufus as Billy was one of the best roles !!!

As one of the great procrastinators of all time, I have hovered and delayed buying GTS on dvd Reg 1.
At the same time I was terrified my ancient video player would give up the ghost.
A bit apprehensive that it might have been cut, 3 weeks ago I took the plunge. and yesterday it arrived.
First thing I checked was the running time.
My old video >>>304 mins
My new Dvd >>>>325mins
Haven't watched it yet ... can't wait to see what the extra 20 mins are.
Please Please, clips and features !!!!

My dvd arrived Friday a.m. new from U.S.A.

Running time 325 mins but there are no special features.

Watched the whole six episodes yesterday. Absolutely loved it.

Wasn't expecting it to be so good. All the cast exceptional. Young Rufus stunning. Wonderful funny story, witty, moving, great music and quite a lot of Rufus!! What more could a girl want!! Love it!!
Worth waiting for!!

After hanging about and boring everyone senseless about whether I should buy a Reg1 dvd, I bought it, then wasn't able to post my views on it until now.
Wel!! after years of watching my old video on an even older vid-player, this dvd was a revelation, the clarity of the picture and the sound was superb.
Still don't know where the extra minutes came in but I wasn't worrying about that when watching the beautiful young Rufus. Lust, drool, Lust and then some.
To anyone in the same situation, I say, don't hesitate, Go for it!

Love it! Really enjoyed all the characters in this one. Billy is a great character. Enjoyed watching him change. Very, very funny!

It's 4am, I'm really tired, but I've just finished watching Gone to Seed and I can't go to bed without saying anything about it.

I. LOVED. IT.

The story was quirky and fun and so refreshing in its randomness! I went in knowing only Peter Cook, Jim Broadbent, and obviously Rufus, but I feel like I've seen the rest of the cast in random things, but I can't remember what or when. They were so familiar.
Peter Cook (who I actually only know from a few comedic bits and, of course, his role as the priest in "The Princess Bride" that performs the "mahwidge" ) I don't think he was the best of actors, but I still thought he was good for this. Wesley's so slimey and when he was trying to convince the triplets of his trying to turn-over-a-new-leaf, it didn't convince me at all (I don't know if that was just Cook's acting or if it was bad writing or what).
I LOVED Sheila Hancock and I even liked the cheesy effects when she would re-appear. Although, I do wish that she would have been written to just suddenly pop out of nowhere and frighten the living daylights out of Wesley (like she did when she appeared in the bag holding the videotape). I even liked her re-appearance as the scuba diver. I don't know why, because I agree with you all when you say it was unnecessary. For me, by that time, I just thought "why not?"
Jim Broadbent reminds me so much of my uncle Barry that it's ridiculous, and Barry's my favourite uncle, so naturally I adore Jim. That nasally voice and bumbling personality and that hangdog look, I love it. Monty was great, and I loved the flashback scene of him as a "boy" with his mother (I loved those similar flashback scenes of Sheila and Peter too. So funny!)
Alison Steadman. I liked her, but I didn't love her. It's for a bit of a shallow reason. It's because her voice is exactly like my auntie's. My annoying auntie. I thought her acting was good, but I liked Hilda so much more in the beginning than I did near the end. She was so cute in her awkwardness and even when she was beginning to stand up for herself, but in the end I just got bored of her.
Warren Clarke. Meh. I thought he was funny in some bits, boring in others, annoying in most, but unfortunately there's always got to be a pest somewhere, hasn't there?
I loved Hilda Fenemore as Miss Pringle. I thought she was hilarious! All her ways in trying to get to Wesley, then announcing to everyone like a little tween girl that she was "The Girlfriend", then when she sobbed over Wesley when he died. All of it got a out of me. I thought she was great!
All right, here we go....

RUFUS. All I can say is thank god I waited until after I sent the birthday message to Nell to watch this. If I had done it beforehand, I would have gushed and gushed and gushed 'til my gusher was gushed out. He was perfect. Absolutely perfect. I can't get over how good he was even back then! Now that I've seen so much of his work, I can't think of him as ever playing a proper villain. Ever. There is a light inside Rufus that shines throughout every performance and he could do the most despicable things as a character but because I've seen him play so many decent-guy roles, he can do no wrong. He can convince you he's good without the slightest bat of those foot-long eyebrushes of his (lordy, I love those lashes). All throughout GTS, anytime Billy did anything, said anything, or was rumoured to have done something wrong, I didn't believe it. As soon as I see that face and the light in those big green gorgeous eyes, all is well to me. I don't believe a thing. He looks too sweet to be bad. I fell in love with Billy immediately, and things just got worse as he got sweeter and sweeter and I nearly lost myself completely come episode 4.
Have you seen a more perfect rear in your life? I haven't. In fact, I doubt I'll ever see the likes of it again.
I loved how everything came together in the end, and I loved that he and Hilda had triplets. I wish there had been a snapshot montage during the credits of those babies growing up though like in TOTS. I loved the look on Rufus' face as he hands one of the squalling babies to the nanny. Typical dad!

On the Street Where You Live scene (what lady doesn't want her crush to throw flowers at her feet?)
Billy (while waiting for Hilda, picking the petals from a flower): "She loves me, she loves me not. She loves me not. She loves me not."
My favourite of all (and this might even trump the fantasy of episode 4) was in the ambulance after he's been shot and Hilda goes in to comfort himand apologize. This line is pure gold and so Rufus: "You've knackered my new Giorgio Armani" and that perfect little hint of a laugh at himself. I loved it, and laughed. Then, suddenly, without warning, his eyes fill with tears and he shakes in pain and opens his blood-filled mouth and says in a broken, thick, pained voice: "I love you, I wouldn't let you down."
Cue the adoration-filled waterworks.
How does he do it? Seriously, how does he do it? And he's only 24 here! Almost 20 years has gone by and he's just gotten better. How has this man not gotten an Oscar yet?! I mean, really!!! Now I'm sobbing again (I had re-watch that ambulance scene to get the quote right) and now I'm annoyed at Hollywood, and now it's 5am. , I really need to go to bed. Goodnight, all!

I'll watch GTS again, I'll laugh again, I'll cry again, and I'll always love Billy (and Rufus...of course)

Forgot to add this. I love moments in films or shows where I can see moments where actors look like they want to crack up laughing no matter how many takes they've done of a certain scene.
