Agree with all you've said, Meg! I hadn't expected all that much from this, and I ended up loving it, too. Rufus is so young and so gorgeous and so GOOD as the charming Billy My favourite of all (and this might even trump the fantasy of episode 4) was in the ambulance after he's been shot and Hilda goes in to comfort himand apologize. This line is pure gold and so Rufus: "You've knackered my new Giorgio Armani" and that perfect little hint of a laugh at himself. I loved it, and laughed. Then, suddenly, without warning, his eyes fill with tears and he shakes in pain and opens his blood-filled mouth and says in a broken, thick, pained voice: "I love you, I wouldn't let you down." Oh yes, I watched that scene three times in a row! I also love the following scenes at the hospital. That croaked "I love you, Hilda" when she leaves the room to talk to the police. And that most enchanting smile in the wedding scene He's a natural, obviously. It's really amazing how gifted that man is and how good he was at such a young age already.

Just had a hubby free week and spent it Rufus-watching. Watched Gone to Seed (and lots of other things) and really enjoyed it. Jealous 'cos Alison Steadman's the same age as me!! The other things were Cold Comfort Farm, Extreme Ops, The Woodlanders, Middlemarch (again), Zen (again) and ALL of Eleventh Hour.

Could be they're Rufus-shaped. Nobody's said anything though. Looking forward to 29th Oct - my daughter will be 44 that day too.

Is "Gone to the Dogs" a sequel of "Gone to Seed"?

I remember 'Gone to the Dogs'
No, it isn't a sequel to 'Gone to Seed' As it was a success, they put the three main actors (Alison Steadman, Jim Broadbent and Warren Clarke) together in a vaguely similar story. It isn't not nearly as good as GTS but is mildly entertaining

I don't think Gone to the Dogs is my kind of thing, but I don't mind if I can get a good copy of Gone to Seed!
